You don't need to use this method if you do not wish but it will help you when you come to do the factor theorem. It is also helpful at A level.

5:18 -9x2 - 6x2 is -14x2 no?

It is (-9x^2) - (-6x^2) which is the same as (-9x^2) + 6x^2
