If you're looking for a legitimate comparison video, better just keep scrolling. This was just a quick, fun edit of a chill Sunday morning paddle getting the long-er boats out to dust off the cobwebs. Good times!

I was hoping to see a race...lol! Oh well, still good to see you on the water, Austin!! 😊👍

We did a "glide" race where we matched speed and then stopped paddling to see which boat would pull ahead. It was a bit anti-climactic because I drifted off course and the boats are basically the same for speed. I still stand by my scientific findings that since there is red mixed into my boat color, it is inherently faster 😎 Hate I missed the members trip...was looking forward to paddling with ya!

@SideTrailAdventures Ah- gotcha! Well your logic seems airtight to me! 😁 Yes, I hate that too! Still looking forward to that day, bro! 🛶👍

@joshck93 I hate that too, Josh! I can't believe I've been on TWO River King trips now and STILL haven't been able to sneak into a "Bite Me Expedition" trip!!! 😅🤣

Where is this launch? Beautiful spot! I paddled the Robeson Creek area of Jordan last night and it looks similar. Orange boats are the ones that get purchased when no other colors are available….. I have a new orange boat….. 😂

Orange boats are probably the 3rd best boat color 😎 This launch is at Saxapahaw Lake Paddle Access on the Haw River or as we affectionally call it, the Saxapahaw Kayak Skills Training Center 😁 Thanks for watching!

@@SideTrailAdventures absolutely! Love all the RK crew videos! Interestingly enough the day after I posted this comment I was out scouting new locations. To take my new orange boat out….. 😂 I had always heard about Saxapahaw Lake and I went to check it out and recognized the launch from this video. Excellent spot. As soon as I turned the corner I recognized the dock from several of RK Pete’s rolling videos.

Great video Austin as always. I enjoy paddling my long-er boat, it's a P&H Scorpio HV. It can covers water fast. Would love to see a comparison video of the War Bonnet Ridge Runner and the Haven Tent hammock. I think you know a guy who has a Haven Tent.

The Tempest was the first kayak I ever bought and I haven't looked back since. There will always be a place in the fleet for the fast boats! Ridge runner vs Haven would be interesting but I don't think the Haven would ever come on a backpacking trip. Now to convince the other guy to bring his out for some testing. Thanks for watching!

I hate that we couldn't get there...for many reasons! Our car is still in NC, though, so we have to make a return trip to retrieve it and to complete our mission of picking up boats and my gear from the Yukon trip! Turns out that a fuel injector for my wife's car isn't a common failing point, so they are having to order one from who knows where and are not sure when the part will even be in, so they can install it. Looks like y'all had a great time. Maybe one of these days we will be able to get up with you guys for a paddle!

I was totally bummed when I heard what happened. Rotten luck but what's that saying "even bad adventures make great stories"? 😂 We'll get out there one day!

@@SideTrailAdventures My wife has “respectfully asked” me to retire that saying. She says that it is actually bringing on the travel woes and is making her tired! 😬🤷🏻‍♂️😂😂

I guess the real question is how fast they cruise with a full load of camping gear. Hopefully the Grizzly does better than the Yukon at that. I don't know about you, but I've been very pleased with how well my Tempest handles a load of gear.

The Grizzly undoubtedly cruises faster than the Yukon loaded down. I've had my Tempest out on 2 multi-day trips, both on very different rivers. She soared through the flat water but when I took it out on the Current River, I usually had to plan any major turns at least 100 yards out to make it happen. Still a fantastic boat that will remain a permanent member of the fleet. Thanks for watching!

@@SideTrailAdventures Sounds about right. I do like the Tempest a lot, and it makes sense for long distance cruising with minor rapids on a big river (or sea kayaking), but the turning radius is a bit big for serious whitewater. I got a Yukon last fall and took it on a couple multi-day trips since. It felt so terribly sluggish with a load in it, and yet, I was able to paddle long distances anyway in some very slow moving water. I was impressed with how it handled some pretty crazy water. As always, there's no perfect boat for everything.
