Just catching up on RU-vid.... only just seen this. The first section was so funny. Loved it! Can you imagine me trying to pronounce that? Wouldn't even get close!! Lovely images John, the contrast between the warm tones of the hills and the cool sky and waters. Perfect.
Lovely tranqil conditions, John, loved your fun start with the pronunciation and the atmospheric Piper floating across the loch. Tricky Lighting conditions with the Cloudless Blue Sky, we are never happy unless it is Dry with a nice cloud cover, a slight breeze to keep the Midges at bay and no one in sight😄 You have again confirmed your love of Velvia with your Processing, don't know how many times I have driven past the loch and never stopped, need to give it a go sometime.
Thanks Douglas! It's a nice little spot and almost always quiet (probably for the reasons given!) Whenever im in the area on a windless day i always make a point of stopping off. I think its because of its location, but when theres no wind the surface is like glass!
Not sure if this is a pee take of Teuchters or Weegies, probably a bit of both. Its not a piper, its just the sound of the wind in Scotland 😊 Although I like the rock outcrop on the far bank I think Loch Venachar has more options, with Ben A'an in the background.
Another beautiful video. It was somewhat amusing to hear that you have trouble knowing how to pronounce some of the names. Makes me feel a little better. Had to laugh at your reaction to the bagpipes. Thanks for the bit of humor! On a more serious note, I really appreciated you sharing with us the experience of working with the shifting ripples on the water. Takes patience, as you showed. Thank you for bringing us along for the experience. I learn a lot from your videos.
Just a quick question John why increase your iso when you could increase your shutter time ? It would have given 2minutes to put your fingers in your ears to block the piper😀
Great point, but I have a good excuse for that! The battery on my camera remote was flat, so I couldn't use the bulb setting, and the longest pre-set shutter speed I had available was just 30s which I didn't want to change, so when the test shots looked a little dark I opted to change the ISO instead of the aperture. Had 2 minutes been enough time to find and throttle the piper I would have opted for that!
Got it I meant to add that the shots were really good considering the conditions and the piper,although I do like pipe music but not when I’m trying to take photos😀
