Mine was ex limo then campervan but use as my daily plus hols too.2.5tdi acv.on 287000 miles at mo.had driveshafts done this year kwikfit 900£ was a bit stuck there as they said had loose bolts needed new intermediate shaft 360£ vw .I’ve had cambelt done and seals etc by vw man since we bought 2 years ago.I was hit in side so one side van was done by auto body on insurance inc new sill.I’ve repaired inside arches couple places fibreglass.as missus won’t let me weld.never tried that yet.but went thru mot ok last October.although it’s old school drive compared to Renault espace 2007 I had before it’s reliable .just seen taxi t4 on RU-vid that’s done 1000000km 2.5tdi 😀
They are bloody good reliable engines if looked after, sounds like you take as much care as the majority of us of our vans, pride and joy, even with the problems I got I still wouldn’t think about getting rid of it. I’ve also got the same the 2.5tdi ACV, slightly less mileage but previous owner had cam belt snap, by the looks of it a cheap repair
Hi Twiggs, if you go to Parkers or EuroCar Parts, they have stands with hundreds of those different clips, think they are called spreader clips, you insert the main clip in the whole and push a pin in the centre which spreads the clip at the back of the panel. when I changed my old rotten wing, I pushed the old ones in and got all new ones, hope this helps
Thank you very much, my mate gave me a couple of these clips a few years ago and I used them on the passenger side. I’m lazy and usually just order online however I think I will be taking a trip to euros once this lockdown is over. Appreciate your help
Hi mate great video. Did you ever find a UK supplier for the plastic bumper clips? I have a van that is in the middle of a conversion and it's all new to me...
Cheers buddy, I’ve been using the main vw dealer for a lot of random bits and pieces, and I’ve also been using a company called Brickwerks. I’ve found that you will have to search different companies to get everything you will need. I have also used, heritage and just kampers. Some parts you may have to get used, and for second hand parts use calicampers, but before you buy anything shop around because I’ve found it can be cheaper to buy new from dealer than to get used from eBay, hope this helps 🤞
@@TwiggsT4 I'm in Leeds and all the T4 guys (who shall remain nameless) here seem to be hoarders and won't sell anything! Do you have the part numbers by any chance???
Yeah I get that, all the bits and bobs I’ve had I’ve ended up giving away 😞 sorry I don’t have the part numbers or the clips, I’ll have a look and if I find them I’ll let you know
This is really helpful , took my wing off to clear debris and deal with rust . Im thinking the bottom of wing where you used glue to seal the gap would be better left with a space for water and debit to escape ? Or would this just let more wet and gunk in ? Interested to know your thoughts because you spent time painting the inside of wing . Great videos, cheers.
Thank you for your positive feedback, good to hear you doing the work yourself 👏 So my mate done his and didn’t glue his wing on, for the same reason as you said, so water and debris can escape easier. And there doesn’t seam like much difference his wing is still solid and seams very secure, so personally I don’t think it makes much difference weather or not you seal the bottom edge. If I do it again then I probably won’t seal it. Hope this helps. Good luck 🤙🤙🤙
You can buy these sets that adds a tube from the top hole all the way to the bottom. That way you are not going to get all that debris inside, it stops at the top hole already where you can clean it when you open the hood. I think they were called drainage kit?
Hi twiggs.got do my 2000 t4 front wings remove and derust /clean also want remove rear bumper and usually check underneath in summer .brush with oil bolts etc.I’ve got some wash machine drain pipe for inside wings for drain off water ..did u use anything there ?steve in Cheshire .
Hi Steve, no I didn’t do anything about the drain holes, but an old washing machine pipe sounds like it do just the job 👍 I do have a lot of old engine oil, I should do this as well 🤙🤙🤙
