Good video. That is why I prefer to hand load, try various bullets, powders, quantities, etc. My favorites are a 7 mm STW in a Remington model 700 customized by Bob Hart, using Hart barrel; and a Savage model 116/Bear Hunter/ .338 Winchester Magnum The 7mm STW likes a Nosler Ballistic Tip 150 grain bullet with 79.8 grains of IMR-7828 powder. The .338 likes Nosler 225 grain partition bullets. I forget now the powder and load. Both give very tight groups, under 1/2 inch. Once I develop, test, and select the best load and group, I never vary in future loading. (I heard coyotes howling around my home last night.)
I think you should always use the same weight bullets when comparing for accuracy. Using heavier or lighter bullets skews the results as it did here. Different barrel twist rates will shoot heavier or lighter bullets better. Not a good test in my opinion.
jager meister.....the rifle has a 1:11 twist which will stabilise up to 180 grain projectiles quite adequately. You can’t over stabilise the lighter projectiles. Having a test for only one weight of projectile can be done, but by that logic, some guy would complain in the comments section that it’s not a good test because you should be grouping bullets according to their muzzle velocities, or bullet seating depth etc etc etc
You raise a good point. Sometimes trying different weights shows which works best. The goal was not to test a rifles accuracy rather to find an accurate hunting cartridge which it accomplished.
Federal makes great ammo. Just did not have any on this day. You can only afford so much and in the popular calibers the choices are often dozens, etc.
