Agree with you on all comments, mine is in for dyno next Wednesday. Can't wait to unleash the beast, you can definitely tell its capable especially in the higher rev range. Also tyres I'm going with Michelin P6's my gotos. But this will after wait for some more pennies. Thanks for your honest review.
Thanks for reply bro yes the z ys restricted and way out of tune at the side of what the engine actually wants to run right.afrer my tune the z power kicks in big style at 8k straight round to 11500 the bkack widow headers will make it breathe better the stock headers are shit and is so easy to fit . I'd go with standard air filter bro but try do the air box mod too iv actually got a fresh un touched one for sale also standard headers if you wanted to cut the collector box out.race headers better 💯.

Beautiful RS. Have a blue '22 and love it. Would like to do your mods, but I have 4 other bikes and I'm tapped out. Your bike must really move now. I recently picked up an RS-SE under, basically, the same circumstances... Drop dead gorgeous bike, didn't test ride it just put down my beans and rode it out. The suspension was set up like shit. That is to say, not set up at all. The front was rock hard and rear limp as a noodle. I'm not a heavy guy, at about 160lb. When I sat on the thing I got 18% compression up front and 43% in the rear, it wanted to speed wobble under hard acceleration above 120km/h. The annoying part is the Ohlin's rear coil-over has hydraulic over mechanical preload and the rear preload disparity was outside adjustment range of the hydraulic unit. To adjust the mechanical preload you need to remove the coil-over from the bike, remove the spring and hydronic adjuster off the coil-over, adjust the mechanical preload and reassemble it... Luckily I know how to do all of that myself, but it sucks for the average guy that the bike doesn't just come set up for a 180-200lb rider from the factory. Otherwise the bike is great. Main takeaway is, as soon as you get an RS, get it set up for you. And if you buy an SE, try to negotiate having the suspension set up included in the purchase price. But that's probably good advice for any bike with adjustable suspension.
Yes without a doubt bro I'm lucky I live near ktec so getting setup is no problem iv set bikes myself and successfully got what I was looking for takes time but got there. 👊
Apparently Kawasaki chose not to use Ohlins recommended std. settings and used their own!?! The SE forks have different internals to the Std model, but are not Ohlins parts. I don't quite understand your use of percentages when describing the stock set up though, did you mean sag?
@@bananabrooks3836 Yes, I was referring to sag as percentage of total travel. The reason I didn't use mm was because if I said "8mm front and 35mm rear sag" for example, it wouldn't mean all that much unless you know what the total suspension travel of the bike is. I've since finished the break in and discovered the front wheel is poorly balanced as well. There's a pretty intrusive vibration above 120km/h. So, between that and poor suspension setup, no wonder it wanted to wobble when the front end went light at speed.
They used to have an ad campaign “Kawasaki lets the good times roll”. It was true in 1978 (KZ1000A2), true last year (KLR 650), and is gonna be real true this year as I rip the Z900 all over the Rocky Mountains and desert SW.

Im not sure about air box mod watched Dales Video it maybe too extreme for what i want. Bought bike new in April it runs sweet to be fare done 4500 already not bothered over outright HP its just a couple of issues i need to sort like you i just bought without test ride because i fancied it. On 2nd set of tyres already S22s and they will need replacing soon ffs🙄Next time im in Matlock ill leave my number at Kostas for you then give me a buzz we can talk RS and what bits you have lol. @@russi461 Hi Ben just had a run out to Matlock (Sunday).... can't believe it there and back bone dry. Kosta wasn't in so a bit of a fiasco with normal staff trying to explain but in short wrote my details on a small white card and they stuck on the fridge door with magnet. It just says( Karl Z900 RS) and its got my number on so next time you get out there that's if we ever get any dry weather just give me a buzz or message me and we can meet somewhere when its fine some day. Got loads to ask you about what you had done. Don't forget bro👍
