I am waiting for a sister site, Pauline Car Reviews. Review car like an Auntie, talk about costs, where to fix, what breaks often, etc like this video. More of this sort of reviews in writing too.
Hafriz Shah bro, since you have a 208 GTi, consider doing a review of that as well. Interested to know how it performs in Malaysian roads as I've got a Fiesta ST myself.. 😉
Will do so soon! In the meantime, here's a story I wrote a while back comparing the Peugeot 208 GTi, Ford Fiesta ST and Renault Clio RS: paultan.org/2014/12/23/ford-fiesta-st-vs-peugeot-208-gti-vs-renault-clio-rs-one-best-hot-hatch-sale-malaysia/
Excellent review - I think you are very articulate & respect your honesty as regards to what influences your buying choice in cars. (I'm not that mad on the 3 series and think it is a little overrated (& hate the A4 ! I hate all Audi's !) I think that overall a nicely optioned C class with a decent engine is overall the best in class. Many thanks.....all the way from London !
Thanks for the review. I have a C300 AMG Line and I'm 4500miles into ownership so was interested in hearing other owners views when I found your video. I've got the 9G so mine's a bit newer. Mine is a Coupe, but a similar spec. I have the same wood trim, except the door parts on mine are a brushed aluminium, same as the strip above the air vents which I think looks better and you don't get the mis match of wood grains. Mine is a UK supplied car so maybe slight differences in territories or maybe they changed the spec slightly. I got mine late 2017. My centre arm rest doesn't always open, the button needs to be pushed quite hard, but also, shutting the doors requires 2 or 3 attempts. The red seats in mine are actually fine kappa leather, so is the red on the doors, the dash and top of the doors is the artificial leather. My dash has an annoying rattle coming from in front of the driver, it's a lower tone that the 'cheap' noise when you tap things, you can't re create it from hitting the dash, only when driving on the terrible roads we have in the UK. Does annoy me that the C Class in COMAND doesn't show my actual coupe and just a generic C Class coupe. On the wheels, I have found the finish to be poor on the painted part. They have chips all in them (not from curbs either) and when washing them, they get so many swirl marks no matter how careful I am. I've also noticed little rust spots all over the sides and rear of the car, I think it's either the brake pad compound or from the brakes themselves. Very annoying. I need to take it back to MB to look at, but they're only open Mon-Fri 9-5 when I'm at work.
I really like design of car but I'm afraid of that ''cheap cabin'' feeling, alot of people noticed that with new C class. Is it that big of deal in person? How overall interior feel compares to previous generation of E segment, like bmw 5 f10 or audi a6/7? Equal, better or still not at that level?
I have my A250 for close to 4 year now. And that my first Merc. And IMO Merc car nowadays is much better looking and feel higher Q than BMW. I tested the 1 series before buying the A, and dash board, the orange colour and boring gauge is definitely the big turn down for me. Don't even mention the boring and old looking T panel of the dash. Am thinking to get the C, so Hafriz, thanks so much for this great and honest review. C350 Hybrid it is...
Does this comand on the C300 supports Apple Car Play ? tested on my friend's C250 and it doesn't work plus they don't offer to update it to newer version. unlike the BMW where u can update the NBT version 4.2 to the version 5.0 to support the Apple Car Play at the dealership. Correct me if i'm wrong
Hafriz, thanks for the review of the 208 GTi, Fiesta ST and the Clio RS. Since you've had the GTi for awhile, can you provide some feedback of its reliability so far or if it's given you any problems (wink wink: such as the "other" GTI's clutch problem)?
It would be great if you can test / compare the sound system between this and and the A4 / 3 series. Does it have adaptive cruise control / lane keep assist?
Good honest reviews. Good job Hafriz Shah. :) However, while impressed with the reviews, i'm disappointed with the car. I mean I expect a Merc to be more comfortable and have better ride than the BMW 3 series. The AMG line is firm and doesnt soak up the road harshness but doesnt handle well. So its neither a drivers car or a comfy cruisers, this is especially so with the poor room at the back. That driving dynamics double lose is a bit too much in my opinion. Seems like all this car has is quality interior for the driver, not passenger. Expected more from Mercedes Benz.
How do you take care of those 19" rim? Hardly any visible dent or scratches... other than the replacement. The boot space between the C300 and C350e... heaven and earth.
Just have to be extra mindful of them when parking, I guess. Knowing each wheel costs RM4k also helps ;) As for the boot space, yes, the C350e's stepped floor robs a lot of space. Plus there's no under-floor storage or even a side net storage. A shame.
Hafriz Shah .... Thx for walkin thru the service costs & potential wheel cost... 😂. Pan roof & rims similar both models. But C300 and C250 gets the stitched dash. Nice luxurious touch.
Hafriz Shah Thank you so much for your reply! According to you, would it be wise to purchase a c class this year or can we expect a facelift next year for Malaysian markets?
There's always going to be a newer version coming out soon hahah! The W205 facelift should be unveiled towards the end of this year, and it'll probably reach Malaysia some time next year. There's no guarantee that everyone will like the facelift tho. Get an early look here: paultan.org/2017/02/21/spied-mercedes-w205-c-class-facelift-spotted-testing/
I just bought a 2015 c300 AMG...this is also my first Mercedes (previously owned the Lexus IS350 f sport)...where is the button to raise the car to go over bumps? Thanks!
Exactly. I didn't like that at first. And honestly, I feel like I am drive a van/bus than a Merc when I first have my car. But seriously, I find that this is super convenient now, especially when you need to do some tight reverse or side parking, 3-points turn, etc. With a flip of you lilttle finger without the needs to moving your hand off the steering...what a joy. I miss this gear knobs whenever I drive my wife's Civic.
Defend your opinion. Why is it overpriced? Have you actually built and priced a C300? They are actually quite affordably priced. Poser? What precisely is it "posing" as? It's a German Midsized Sedan and that's precisely what it looks like.
