The countdown is on for the Mirage Hotel and Casino to officially close its doors to make way for the new Hard Rock Hotel, and guests spoke with 8 News Now about the bittersweet change.
It is sad. Was my favorite place, location on the strip, tropical pool with the waterfall. Knowing friendly wait staff at the Paradise cafe and the Pantry. Many great memories and experiences. (Even the drama of the shooting and having to go back into the parkade and stay there for hours till it was deemed safe to go to our rooms.) I know there are other big and new resorts on the strip, but my friends and I enjoyed it as a getaway. Usually a week. For rest and relax by the pool. The close accessibities to shows and some gambling. I hope that hard rock will keep the tropical style pool and Oasis feel like their resort in Florida. Sympathies to the workers, hope they find positions in the new hard rock with a good and rewarding work environment/employer. Will miss the Mirage name to. Hard Rock ,ugh, Now its finding a hotel and vibe that's similar.
A lot of us are against The Mirage being rebranded to Hard Rock Las Vegas so….SCREW YOU HARD ROCK! LOOK AT ALL YOUR CAFES, THEY’VE BEEN CLOSING LATELY!
My mom and aunts were born in Vegas, used to visit when there was nothing but desert. I remember the Mirage was a big deal, first resort of its kind. That fire show fascinated me as a child. ❤
MGM only operates resorts south of Caesars Palace. MGM has control of the Mirage name. Hard Rock can only keep the Mirage name in this property for up to three years. This is why it has to be the Mirage not TI closing. It is being replaced with Hard Rock
Hard rock already looks like an eyesore , they couldn’t have put the hard rock near Mandalay Bay or something? Near the new ball park project? I literally was just at the mirage this previous weekend and it was super clean well maintained hotel out of any of the bunches I’ve been to in Vegas and it is truly sad to see yet another iconic hotel gone
@@miningthecows7662 that’s funny because I’ve also stayed at the Paris hotel and it looked worse then the mirage , carpet was ripping off the floor dirty as heck then the room windows had Water all over it looks like they don’t clean the out door windows at all… Obviously that’s MGM territory but , Hard Rock could of just bought the land out near Mandalay Bay and just build it down there near the new Tropicana project … That’s just my opinion on it though… Obviously Vegas likes to get rid of the old and in with the new which to me is sad .. only because these “new” projects their doing I hope they stay “Maintained” and not sold off 5x during their existence then shut down and build another hotel that won’t make any money and the cycle keeps repeating
@@miningthecows7662 and not so sure about a “Gutair” shaped building as being “better” but that’s obviously your opinion on it … My opinion staying at the mirage , I’ll never forget the amount of folks I seen enjoying themselves and especially by the pool and just having a good time … The property will definitely be missed
I know people want to romanticize the Mirage closing, but this is just a casino. For the most part they are all the same. Yeah, one buffet may be better or cheaper, or the rooms differ a bit, but in the end they are all the same.
I beg to differ….the Mirage is CLEAN…so many others are throw down dilapidated mess where OBVIOUSLY the owner doesn’t want to put ANY money out nor treat his employees any better. (TI)
@@cj9667 The Mirage is clean and apparently treats employees better, but there's a problem: No one will be able to see it's cleanliness for about 3 years and employees will be displaced too. Other than those two things it's a wonderful place I'm sure.
What bad timing to close it's doors and never to reopen do to 6 months from now when a recession starts and ends with the economy collapsing and employment at an all time high at 20% by May 2025
