You make an excellent video with lots of important points that confirm I'm not going to become a long armer myself but would value the expertise of any service provider who does this amazing work l. For now I'm making small projects

I liked that you told the prices of each thing as you went along. I also appreciated at the end, providing the actual price of making the entire quilt. People that don't know anything about sewing or quilting are usually shocked by the price that I give as an approximated value. They don't realize everything that goes into making it nor the prices of fabric and thread and lastly our time. This is really valuable information! Thank you!

Hello!! This is my 1st time on your channel!! Within 5 minutes (actually 3-4 min), I was blown away at your very diversified skill set & talent! You are an amazingly logical, organized, efficient, & accomplished woman! I have never quilted anything, but I love & very much appreciate what it takes to make quilts or anything by hand! And, I’m always happy to pay the asking price of beautiful handmade items -- because I do know what it takes & I appreciate the time, design, & materials required!! I come from an extremely talented group of women in my family, I sew simple items, love to do hand embroidery & have tried numerous crafts like beading vintage looking items, crochet, knitting, painting, etc. Thank you for this amazing video!! Also, the fact that you 3D tools you use, says a lot about you… you’re a rare talented person👏

I think it’s important for us quilters not to underestimate skill, fabric, and time for the total price. If we continue to undervalue our work, customers will continue to pay low prices.
@dclutterquilting
@dclutterquilting Месяц назад
This is very true but you also have to keep in mind what it is costing for quilting in your area. I don’t do a lot of quilting for others so my price may be too high or too low depending on what the area pricing is. I know Missouri Star quilt company charges .03 cents a sq inch which is way more than other longarmers in my area. Though I would like to know what others are charging.

A good take on the steps involved to machine quilt on a longarm. I liked how you focused on the process and made clear what this 60"x80" cost to finish. The cost of $.025 per square inch seems like what I have seen charged elsewhere over the years. More for custom work, of course. Reasonable and efficient. Well done. I am a beginner using a different brand of longarm and liked the way you set up the border with the edge to edge design and then took out the middle stitching. Did you learn that during training with the Gammill? Thank you.

Excellent video. Many new ideas for me! You are blessed with the extras that you and your hubby come up with (that’s talent too). I think your pricing was very low and you did not add in the time it took you to make the quilt. I only give gifts and do charity quilts. I have a juki mid arm (sit down table) and I love it! It could go in a frame and I could put a computer on it, but I love it as a sit down. Thanks for the video!
@dclutterquilting
@dclutterquilting Месяц назад
Thanks for commenting! ❤️ The time it took was 10 hours to piece. I put it in the video at $25.00 hour but it was separated. I didn’t add it into the overall cost because it can be subjective. I don’t quilt for others often so I could be low. I guess it depends on where you live. I am sure there could be a whole debate on pricing lol! This was such a simple quilt compared to what I usually make. I was surprised at the cost also! I hope you watch my next one. It will be different.

I only have my bobbin clips on printables. That is only because it takes a lot of time to manage just one place. You can find them on Makerworld. makerworld.com/en/models/473718#profileId-383877 . You will have to have the bambu slicer / prusa or orca slicer to open the file. Then you can convert it into a .stl from the slicer.

Yikes that is a lot of extras that I bought or made a little at a time. My husband built the light bar. Ruler base, quick change feet, casters, zipper leaders and rulers are all extra! Well I am not sure. Mine was 35,000.00. I have had it 6 years but I had another one before that. So if you add all the quilts I have done in the last 10 years, which is about 300, then it would be 45,00.00 at $150.00 each. But I have quilted some for others so I did make some money from my machine. It is still a large investment.
