I understand what you're saying and don't want to be an internet dick but you actually can do a coleman slide in case you need to stop fast and it's fairly effective. He does a couple of small ones to control his speed at some point in the video.

Learning a million ways to stop effectively should come before learning skills. Pro skateboarders are the ones who know how to stop without being hurt. Always learn to stop and be safe first over everything else. The first thing I did when I got a skateboard was learning ways to stop. And if you fall just roll out of it and curl your chin towards your chest to protect head.

A normal skateboard is really bad for going above 25mph or so, the trucks are meant to turn quickly at low speeds in parks so they are way too twitchy for going fast, plus the wheelbase also contributes to that. Overall a park setup is just horrible for going fast, there's a reason this guy is using a longboard and longboard trucks.

It's actually less than I thought. 70 mph is about 30 metres per second. Probably the wheels are about 70mm, that's kind of standard for a longboard. So the radius is 0.035m. Angular velocity is linear velocity divided by radius, so 30 / 0.035 ~ 860 rad/s. 860 / (2pi) * 60 ~ 8200 rpm.

ceramic bearings are common now for the lack of friction/max speed possible with boards, skates, etc. What if they fractured?? Hope they are high quality, and the company has a great QC dept...
