My palms sweating now after reading your comment. As a kid I did it for the hell of it, not mountain hills like these but high speeds and now that Im fatter and 40, not so fun 😬
Anybody see those Skateboards at 1:00 They were like "yeah we are cool, we have some pretty sick skills" Then These guys come down at like 50 mph and they are like :0
@ShakerGER Probably not... I feel like it would be super wobbly and the wheels would be way too hard and too small. Needless to say they're better for tricks but skateboards are NOT meant for bombing hills at these speeds.
+ShakerGER I didn't say trick wheels and I don't know your setup. I said "skateboards aren't meant for bombing larger hills at high speeds" that's all.
ImCosmic I just actually bought my first longboard. A 39 inch stiff downhill board with like 78a 71mm wheeels nd some shit. I was so inspired by all these fucking videos man, I'm an adrenaline junkie so I have to learn! :DDDDD
+ImCosmic a few days ago I was going probably 30 mph down a hill and face planted, had to go to emergency room because I sliced open eye brow and have road rash all over my body but mainly my face
far out that's awesome, looks so free and exhilarating!! I can't help but cringe thinking about how much skin you guys would loose if you came off!! You've definitely got balls!
I have mad respect for you guys right now, I tried to go down a hill like this and I nearly died man..... My hands, knees, elbows, even my face wasn't safe from this. I just couldn't control the speedwobbles.
oh wow. that is amaizing guts you guys have. I admire longboarders. such freedom but such a double edge sword. stay safe and keep uploading vids bro. kiaora from Bali.
+Soviet Bear Put your weight directly over the front trucks, have a narrow stance, lower your center of gravity, and strengthen your core. Speed wobbles happen when you start to doubt yourself and put your weight further back on the board.
Lol his air breaking in the second location looks like he's like "come at me!" but awesome video. i wish i had hills this steep where i'm from. i been looking forever
Small steps at a time. Gradually push your boundaries as you build muscle memory, skill, and confidence. What is once scary feels very comfortable after you have done it 50 times.
hey crunchie, ive been longboarding for a year or so, and i still cant figure out how to drift correctly. i would love for you to make a tutorial. but if its to much trouble, its cool. you guys are awesome and i love your videos, you inspire me to take risks ( cheezy, i know ) thanks! bye
Sisvs Sis HEy there im learning slides too now. i can do everyone)but fake ) w gloves but i would advise you to just learn the toe side with 2 hand on the ground because it´s very easy and basically the most important one because if you can break that way you can break easier and faster
Crunchie You know, I would have to agree with you. I've carved those canyons in cars for many years. BUT- we get earthquakes pretty often, and with old roads, that leads to bumps and cracks. A lot of those sick runs have pretty shitty roads and could use repatching. Aside from that, they're perfect. The road in this video is paved perfect.
+SCHIZOPHRENlC it could be because of more money spent on the quality of road but nz is an island and it limits the temperature variations that can cause cracks but they do have earthquakes in NZ too.
I didn't even realize you were going downhill until I saw the town spread out halfway through. I live in a relatively flat area (except for landfills) and I've never gone that fast, makes me want to fly out somewhere and try this.
Norman Denoncour No, Norman, I am not "retarded", I made learning things that can benefit my future and career a priority over knowing this tiny, insignificant little fact. Don't be such a dickwad.
My friends and I have bombed like this on streets in Philly for decades. We weren't quite as fast...We only went 45 to 50, but we had crazy drunks pulling out of side streets all if the time. I can't believe I only suffered a sprained wrist when I bailed into a hill once, avoiding a car. Good video...maybe a little less touching.
taking to the streets like that is Hella crazy there's just a rush you feel on a long board that's so satisfying people are Jerks and would love to take a hit at me with there car so too seeing this video and watching yall pass cars going at high speeds arms out with the highest confedence is sheer amazing I couldn't even imagine the sensation
Hybrid Gamer They aren't that good. It's mostly straight. Back in the days, Cali kids would do this on curved roads where you have to powerslide and speed control to curve. And no one wore helmets back then. Maybe some dick tape gloves though. lol
Brandonator24 I do that as well but I'm not from Cali but I mostly prefer sliding than downhill cuz it takes more practice for slides and than when you learn certain ones you can change those slide but doing it differently
Hey Crunchie I have been longboarding for probably around 6 - 7 months and I am starting to get more and more into downhill and I have read some of you other comments and have seen some of the trucks you have used but what would you say are you favorite cause I am looking maybe into getting a new set of trucks and wanted some good opinion. Also by the way I am around 190 pounds so if it is really stiff that doesn't matter too much just looking for something stable at high speeds
Its part of growing up and taking chances when you are young and foolish. I know something about this skating empty pools and getting chased out by the owners when we got caught doing so. You guys rock! go Kiwis!
Don't know exactly why, but I find those big boards extra satisfying to watch. Nothing against the little boards, people are doing crazy amazing riding on them, but there's something about that big ol' plank that I just really like
Don't want to push too fast at those speeds, just a bit of bump drafting, just like racing a car. You want to keep the same speed as the person you're riding with.
Mr. Merlin Not related, but just wanted to let you know if you wanna address someone in a comment, you put an @ before their name, like dandanbro24 , see how it's in blue? Just thought I'd help ya out :)
i can tell you that you did one BIG mistake! To ride this spot at this time with that many cars. And you can be sure, after your run its definitiv not better than before!! show more respect for spots. Its your Life and you still have one!
Crunchie I think he says that because it could end in a collision or something. In my opinion, i think it'd be rad seeing you guys booming past my car haha
DJGuppy321 It no different then being overtaken by a motorcycle.... not reason to be mad or upset. Just be aware of your surroundings while driving is all no reason to get upset.
Poor guy wants you to stop touching his ass. Notice he's protecting it most of the way? Next time let him use his hands for balance and not fending you off.
awww man, even though iv'e done long boarding for years watching it from outside without all the adrenaline rushing through you is fricken scary! ive stopped long boarding now after too many close calls with death haha
+Dank Musty He was helping him and himself balance, and trying to keep distance between each other so they wouldn't crash. It was also an indicator to tell him that he's right behind him.
Looks so fun😁 I dont think pebbles or little rocks matter that much when long boarding en the ones that do are visible with the naked eye and are easy to avoid.only matters really with regular skate board
