I see the soundcore glow on your shelf, This speaker is very exiting to me because its the flare 3 we all wanted. I can't wait for the review on that one! I know it came out fairly recently but I know you can manage
Thanks for the honest reviews Alan. It's really cheeky that none of the purchased RU-vid testers mention that the advertised LDAC codec is not compatible with Apple. Some even point their iPhone at the camera and talk about how Hi-Res has changed their lives.
Lol you're a funny bloke. That's good you don't care. You certainly like to talk, and nothing wrong with that. But you do care about giving honest, thorough reviews! 👍👍
@@alanrossreviews Hey we have to appreciate people like you. Too much manipulation in this world and it's hard to find real and true information in all areas. In part because of your review I just bought a Uboom L and the Stormbox blast. Still have to really listen to them, but at least after so much research I think I at least made a good choice. Also have to figure out installing the 0.43, 0.44 or 0.48 (whichever one it is) in Uboom.
Great detailed reviews as always Alan. 👍 It is nice when you compare the speaker with the original track because you can hear how it performs compared to original track. I think you should do that for every new speaker in the future to help your viewer in case they don't have the versus speaker to compare with. Cheers 🍻
its not perfect of course because i cant control the volume you listen back on so it can alter results. for example very low volumes require a more v shape to be perceived balanced but if you turn the volume up at your end it will indeed sound v shaped compared to the original but in reality listening at same volume as recorded it would sound balanced.
the X500 does sound pretty great. It’s too bad Soundcore cut the X500’s top firing driver in custom EQ. But I’m impressed with the default “spacial” tuning.
First off, great video. Good you did the full length going all over the place format - with all the technical analysis we just don't get from the shills. I honestly don't get 'stealing' the mid-range, downmixing to mono then putting it through a different opamp/driver that's pointing at the sky. All the musical detail is in the mid-range (ie vocals). It's like soundcore were flipping through their collection of Argos catalogues from the 90s, saw an Aiwa 2.1 system and got the translation back to front....
i think they simply decided they could make themselves look unique by using an extra upward firing driver and realised the lifestyle crowd only care about looks and will pay more just for looks. they then said to the marketing department, we dont care what you say, just get this sold!
They should of canted the drivers not only up but about 5-6% to the left and right respectively. That, plus the upward firing driver, would of caused a true spacial / outward directional sound format.
Agreed, unless like the RIVA turbo x , the Damson Vulcan or the Fugoo /Fugoo xl… where they had dedicated right and left firing drivers would they get a true small degree of spacial sound stage. At least the Fugoo xl is about a foot long so the side drives plus the front and rear facing tweeters and subs could emanate a sort of 360 sound platform. Bose did it exceptionally on their 1,2,3 audio system utilizing two satellites and a main powered sub. On the satellites they each had two drivers canted out about 8-10 degrees , which actually gave a “spacial sound stage” . But that being said you had true stereo and about 6-10 feet separation between them too. It gave the sound stage of a 5.1 in a 2.1 system!
@@alanrossreviews of course!! Actually? I don't like the looks of the new speakers. I like the sound core boom look and the tribit blast, jbl boombox style, the tube style. I like cool looking speakers. And? These also sound good 👍. 😆 Lol 😆😆😆
Just got the beolit 20 from a black friday sale. Haven’t burned it in properly yet. Definitely not a party speaker, but still has decent bass. Just don’t expect it to compete the likes of stormbox blast, or boombox 3. Has nice design and compact size, great clarity and openness even though it’s not proper stereo. It has blumlein processing like stockwell 2 via the beosound app. Really like it for vocals, singer songwriter, jazz etc, nice and intimate listen. Default mode sound signature close to uboom l, but with deeper bass, but like to tune towards relaxed in the app to bring out the mids. Only bt 4.2 and no wifi, but supports AAC for apple devices, battery life ok but not great. Need to burn it in properly to see if the sound changes.
Hey Alan I know this prob doesn't matter , and u prob don't care what they say but I'm gonna say it anyway, be I appreciate you .But don't listen or think anything of what ppl say . Ur one of the best ppl I've seen on RU-vid reviewing speakers ur hilarious and your honest . And tht is better then anything else . To be honest if they cant understand u they don't care enough to not only tht you almost always repeat ur self somewheere in ur videos! Also I don't think u have it but is there anyway u could compare the speakers tronsmart force max 80w to the soundcore motion boom plus. Bc i don't got alot of money to just buy a speaker.i saw breakdown of the tronsmart force max 80w and it bad 2 4 ohm 40w woofers and2 15 wat. Tweeters so and where I'm st it's 62.99 !! So if u can please and thank you I understand if you can't . Have an great day!
Tronsmart as a brand have always been disappointing to me, not really worth my time. Only the bang max offered anything at all but i think they bumped the price.
I'm sorry I'm late to reply what do you think is the best overall sound by stats for under 200 us dallors I don't care about the looks and I preferably ipx5 at least and if you don't mind also for under 100 size and weight also mean nothing and I also really respect your opinion . I never comment and I really appreciate you answering I'm gonna subscribe! Music is huge part in my life and I'm not use doing any of this your the first person I've messaged so thank you!
@@michaelleaveck4893 i dont get into the best speaker thing as that is different for everyone. i only talk in terms of value for money and for me right now that is the tribit stormbox blast.
Thank you and if it helps you to watch ads I will watch to help you sorry by chance dang I got the motion boom plus thts a close one to storm blast and any idea the best bang for it's buck speaker for under 100 and it's the last question thank you for giving me your time !
@@alanrossreviews I'm honestly not sure what they're thinking. Really the Motion 300 wasn't exactly terrible at its price point so someone there still seems coherent.
the new motion ones are the high margin speakers so they are going for that market. but their other speakers are where the value is, that rave neo 2 at $87 is a steal.
Cheers for your very long thoughts on the X500 (it's always fun to see you rambling). The X series seem to be quite uninteresting and uninspired speakers, at least after watching your videos on them. But I'm typing this comment because I'm more interested in that speaker in the background, next to the lovely "I am not a shill" cap. It looks like a Soundcore Flare... I haven't seen that around, is that the Flare 3? I have the Flare 2 and I love it, so I'd definitely be interested in a successor.
@@alanrossreviews oooohh! I didn't know about that one! Will you be making a video on it? Since it's bigger, I expect a fuller, bolder sound than what my Flare 2 delivers (after EQ). Hoping to get to know your opinion on the Glow!
I am kinda believing that those two X series speakers do stereo upmixing, but which speaker/speakers doing the upmixing ...? Is it the top driver that's doing the up-mixing ...? Other 2 drivers playing the normal stereo track ... If the track is reprocessed, are all 3 drivers playing the reconstructed track ...?
i thought i answered this 🤣 it seems little more than pushing some left/right mids to the top speaker and reducing the the same mids on the left right drivers which still do stereo. custom turns off that top driver for pure stereo and sounds ok. doesnt sound like much psychoacoustics going on, the x600 worked better for this. so it may do some slight guessing at what should be height information but it really looks like its simply funneling the 600-1800hz region to the top driver.
@@alanrossreviews Yeah I have watched the full video, you've said those stuff in your video. But taking those into account, It doesn't seem like any reprocessing or upmixing going on. More like 2 drivers doing less mids and the top one filling those mids. So, do you think it's the designing of the speaker that's mimicking those audio effects or is it really re-constructing the tracks, like up-mixing going on ...? You said there is stereo upmixing going on. But could be just different speakers tuned differently for different presets/modes/scenarios. Is it really re-generating the original track ..?
well mine is dead so i couldn't do any more testing but the majority of what it does is simply re-route those mids. i dont hear much anything else happening.
@@alanrossreviewshopefully Soundcore recognizes that it's bad as the device shouldn't be getting killed like that, and send you a new one. probably an asking email will escalate things whether or not they eventually send you a new one. anyway, those speakers have sealed and air-tight main portion and the daughter board charging portion. even though water can enter inside the daughter charging board, it shouldn't be getting inside the main portion. on top of that the charging board should also have waterproof coating. so, hopefully they learn from their mistakes and send you a replacement one ...
I have a Jbl go 3. Which is better for me to buy Motion 100 or motion 300? How does weight decide for me if I don't want to wear it hard?? Or else buy Flip 6, but I'm afraid to tear the speakers from the sides from the side.
Spatial dynamic on mine changes the mids and highs, on yours rather small difference (i think it was hearble on mine firmware video that it changes sound quite a lot) so first difference
X500 and motion Plus are now same price here in canada. Both are going for $100. Which one do you think is better as a shower/ Small room/ Camping tent speaker?
Due to the lack of "wow factor" in soundcores latest releases, i've placed an order for my first JBL speaker. Partybox Encore. Ordered it for $179 from Walmart. Thus breaking nearly 5 years of loyalty to Soundcore. 😂
Hi Sr Alan.. It's a posible, if you can do the motion 100.. Is a small speaker. And I will like your opinion.. Before I purchase... Thanks.. Plus you sense of humor.. Is great..
Guys, I need some help. I've been away from this hobby for a while. I'd like two portable units that can connect with each other as an actual two channel system. I did this with my two Motion Plus a few years ago and it was good, so what's the new best thing at around $200 per speaker?
I have 2 stormbox blasts connected to a sky glass TV. The sound on that does atmos but the bass is poor. Just using 2 paired speakers bests that. I can't see how one soundcore speaker can do this and thanks to you I'm not going to try or buy.
@alanrossreviews Even pairing 2 motion booms or ➕️ to a tv is probably as good. Obviously a decent soundbar for atmos is the way ,but the bass you get on 2 blasts to a tv ,say for gaming or films with boom, it betters sound bars without a separate sub. I've used a sonos beam 2 and 2 blasts sounded like I had a sub and better sound separation. Sonos charge the earth for a sub.
Owning the x600 would make it redundant to purchase the x500. The x600 was small enough already. When are they going to offer a full size party speaker? I purchased the JBL Partybox encore for $179 on Black Friday sale and am realizing soundcore needs to get it together with their party speakers. The encore simply sounds better. Time will tell. I put this comment in the wrong place.oh well.
@@mikehancock6280 from what ive heard id personally pick the x500 over the x600 but then spatial audio is meaningless to me and even x500 cant do louder volumes clean and with bass.
@@alanrossreviews but you can do when you liked Dockin D Fine+2 i can Garantie you will be very happy with Teufel Boomster 2021 or Teufel Rockster Cross Teufel is a lot better than Dockin
@@SauliusJ29 i dont have enough time to ry everything so i stick to whats most interesting to me. ive seen the reviews, it doesnt scream must have to me to be honest.
Im editing my video comparing to x600, holy fuck mine on max volume sounded so bad, compression distortion, no bass and muffled. Who would buy it seriously?
I returned this because you can't edit the special spacial eqs. Too much bass in one, the other too much midrange. Bad stereo separation. And it's very bulky and odd shaoed. I would say this maybe a fine $99 speaker.
@alanrossreviews I canceled my soundcore motion x600 after seeing your reviews. Waiting to find a good $400 portable speaker that can play spatial sound and loss less codecs. Obviously will better sound and bass.
@alanrossreviews As I understand, spatial audio is directional audio. It gives a sense of sound being fired from different directions. Not sure if this is same as surround sound system. I need something that can play binaural audio at healing frequencies plus regular entertainment.
@@zfold4702 this is the misinformation soundcore is relying on. Spatial audio is any format that attempts to recreate a 3d image. Every stereo speaker is spatial audio. Spatial audio is not surround sound in that sense but it can be.
@alanrossreviews thank you for educating us on this. In that case, where is the 3d image structure stored? Are there special codecs that the player needs to understand? I found jbl authentics 500 lists codecs. Other players did not list it. Must be a sign of some differences. Apologies if my question don't make sense.
Does any bluetooth speaker brand have as many different models as Soundcore/Anker have, that are currently on open sale? Begs the question do they make them all or is it a "badging" excercise from various sources. The market appears to be flooded with them, someone, somewhere is making a tidy buck😂
they are flooding the market for sure, its a total change in their marketing strategies, just keeping up the paid reviews to back their high margin speakers alongside the flood!
@@alanrossreviews tried that with various android devices, incl Samsung S22 and Pixel 6 Pro, and all codecs other than SBC are greyed out and unselectable. Maybe they only had aptX on earlier/differnet colour models? I bought mine after your first few videos on it, black and gold colour. No biggie, it still sounds great.
Jajaja. Alan I already try it I do t k ow how they justify 170 euros for the shijfjf.. but the reviews I. Amazon says, wow nicer as B&O wow better as Bose and many payed reviews shit. This thing is decent just with a pretty good EQ but doesn't worth the money with 180 u buy decent speakers incluudes the JBL partybox encore....
Another 💩-tastic release from Shillcore. 🎉😂 Not saying it's impossible but it would take quite a bit at this point for me to change my view on them as a company after their recent shenanigans. Thank you, as always, for another excellent review and comparison, though, Alan! 😁👍👏
they would have to invite us round for tea and lay on entertainment and give us freebies at the end to have any chance of getting close to redeeming themselves right now 😝
It's the first time I see someone preferring mono instead of saying that stereo doesn't matter on small speakers. What's the advantages of a mono sound ?
@@alanrossreviews Is comb filtering that much of an issue ? At the point of wanting to lose the whole dimensionality of every tracks instead, lose the treble imaging and lose the wideness of the sound ?
@@ThibautMahringer for me no, more for fixed position speakers, some people are a bit over sensitive imho. So not just comb filtering which at the end of the stereo on two speakers isnt giving identical signals but all phase issues with two close drivers and then moving off axis cn totally change the on axis response as the two signals arrive more out of phase than on axis.
@@alanrossreviews when I first got the x600 it sounded okay(honestly for this price not too shabby at all) but while comparing to other products like epicboom it just doesn't feel right (the highs and mids are too thin)
