This film is great on atmosphere, cinematography, and nothing else. Well, those sound pretty good, right? Except, story and narrative coherence aren't included, so direction is out as well. Now, good direction isn't necessarily needed if a piece of media is primarily about vibes. But since this film is meant to be taken seriously, the lack of direction, eye-rolling top antagonist reveal, and bafflingly stupid decisions of characters who're supposed to be on the ball make film middling at best.
Hello! I think you make really good points. I think it’s easy to get lost in a movie’s atmosphere and disregard the effect of its story. That being said, I did really enjoy this movie’s narrative. It was far from perfect, but I think it complemented the tone well. I appreciate you leaving your thoughts!
I liked all acting from everyone. It was directed well and great camera shots. Creepy and eerie throughout the movie. I really liked following the female FBI agent. She was unique. The 90's throwback was cool. I didn't like the second half because of what they decided to add. I was starting to losing interest in the movie. Nicholas Cage's performance could have been better. I wanted more from him.
