Every year Longmont Fire Services presents fire safety messages to Longmont children during Fire Prevention Month. COVID has prevented Longmont Fire staff from visiting our local schools in person. This video provides a demonstration of the equipment Longmont Firefighters wear. We urge parents and teachers to familiarize their children with the equipment worn by firefighters so they are not afraid.
National Fire Prevention Week is observed in the United States and Canada, during the week in which October 9 falls. In the United States, the first Presidential proclamation of Fire Prevention Week was made in 1925 by President Calvin Coolidge.
