Only had the Shareware Version back then - and it wasn't until 2023 that i stumbled upon the full release on Steam :) Finally got to play the remaining episodes and immediately felt like a 12 yo again.
Oh my god! Never knew someone would upload this. I just searched for Duke Nukem 2 on a whim, coz I played this back in the day, and I wanted to reminisce. Thanks for uploading this. I’m overcome with a wave of nostalgia.
Even four years ago, RU-vid was inundated with repeated uploads. Before this person uploaded themselves playing this video game, there were already uploads of other people's videos of them playing this game.
I just added chapters to this video so you can easily skip from level to level. Did you know that Duke Nukem 1 + 2 got Remastered in 2023? This game and its predecessor were included in the regular edition of Duke Nukem 3D as full bonus games. I finished beating the original game and the first 2 episodes of DN2 and now I'm playing the third episode of DN2.
Not a fan of the layours and overall deaign of some of these levels, some of em feel like mazes that just blend together, you get lost suuuuper easily. Still, I appreciate the graphical details and visual storytelling with them, clearly they had a somewhat clearer vision going into this game compared to the previous.
Notice when you defeat the boss, his facial expression changes. Also I’ve beaten levels 6, 7, & 8 without taking a single health hit. That’s a secret bonus 2.
Dosgamert yeah it does take a lot of practice and time. The boss level though is actually the easiest to beat without taking a health hit. One strategy I did was when the boss drops the bombs, I hang over the green nukage pit and the explosions don’t reach Duke.
ah man! you totally missed a secret area in the first level! Right after you get out of the transporter look all the way up. You will see you are leaving the area of the building and are now in the open. If you position yourself just outside the last piece of roof, you can shoot upward dislodging a block that will allow you to jump on some aerial platforms and if I remember correctly, get a different gun. It's been some years since playing this but I need to throw this on a VM and get back to it... good times. Also, "Liero" was classic around the same time...
I've never found this secret! Next time that I play it I will look for this! Sounds good! You don't need VMWare, go and check out Dosbox ;) Ah man, don't get me started on Liero. I really had some hotseat fun back in the day on that one!
Hey man, I'm sorry to inform you that your mind is fooling you. You're not remembering it right. I checked it, it isn't there. I even tried hitting it with a rocket launcher. No succes. And the level editor that I found online was more revealing and showed me that there's nothing there. I was hoping you were right though! You might be confused with the E01L03 Level. :)
I noticed that as well, but keep in mind the VGA format was only 5 years old at that point, and had only been in mainstream use for about two. It was also using an engine that was originally designed for EGA.
When I played this on another computer than the one I first played it on, I thought it was going too fast. Turns out it was running too slow on the first computer.
It’s weird seeing a Duke Nukem game have a game that wouldn’t be out of place in a PG-13 movie, than the next game goes out blasting with gore and swears and strippers
16:20 how did you manage to get the spiders to bounce of you, I always remember being swarmed by them and trying to shake them off and dying here and not being able to get any further :(
we had a floppy disc of games from siemens with games asteroids 3D too Wolfenstein 3D 1st installment beaten first role playing game not the new one the original one based on world war II anti zianist world war II Wolfenstein marks I was 5 through 8 playing these games
For some reason, I always thought Bruce Campbell would mad e a great Duke Nukem. And then I saw Kurt Russell in Soldier and thought HE would make a great Duke Nukem, too lol
Well crap. I think they might have taken it off the store. I have it on my account but when I try to go to the store page for it it just takes me to the store homepage. I don't know why they would do that so it might just be an error. Tell you what, it's been awhile since I've been on Steam (don't actually have it installed atm), but if I remember correctly you should be able to look up my account (MrSirr, profile image is an alien similar to my youtube portrait) and find a list of all the games I own. I'm pretty sure you should be able to get to the store page from there. If not then I guess they've removed it for some reason.
