How much grappling/takedowns do you see in these matches? Im a novice and id really like to implement my grappling background into my hema journey, dagger work seems very interesting to me.

In the duels category, grappling is prohibited. In the outrance category, it's allowed with some exceptions. In melees (group fights) grappling is a common tactic for victory. If you look up the buhurt international site it will have a set of rules for each category (there's usually a section specific to grappling)

@timothyhines6220 thank you, I'd like to find a category that is trying it's best to stay realistic and allows grappling as much as possible, I get not wanting it to turn into a boxing match but at least grappling with a dagger should be aloud.

What are the rules? Is the lack of half-swording for safety reasons?

They have counters watching each fighter that determine the number of points. Strikes must be made with proper intent and edge alignment. There are no half sword thrusts allowed for safety reasons. There isn't enough flex in the blades, so they would impale

How do they score these? Is it like who can hit more cleans hits or who get more beaten?

Edge alignment is critical (they can't hit with the flat of the blade). They have to swing with intent (no half-hearted taps). They have ppl counting the points for each fighter and then they compare scores at the end of the round. There's a set of rules on the IMCF/AMCF site that goes into it in detail

What count as a win

The counters keep track of points for each fighter. After the time limit, the person with more points wins. They don't get points if the strike is blocked, if the edge is not aligned, and if they don't swing with intent
