Enjoy our rusty longsword bouts while waiting for the clubs to reopen. I'm using a Blackfencer Standard Longsword. Fighter with the camera is using an Aureus feder. This is his channel: / sanjostudios
This is traditional, don't every European have some kind of longsword as decoration? Like a tribute to your ancestors who used it to behead his brother
@@sanjostudios I do that all the time. Now my high bind stable of techniques are : 1)Zwerch, 2) Chase the hands and cut the wrists, 3)Grapple 4) Pommel to the face 5) Break off and oberhau.
very good fencing on both parts, but im really impressed with greens hits, alot of them were direct and looked covered! i need to get back into HEMA classes.
Dude, I wish I had a gf who did stuff like this. But mine just cries all the time. But then I take my antipsychotic medication and she goes off somewhere else.
Footage looks great guys, brilliant perspective. Very strange feeling, my hands were kind of burning to move an imaginary sword to defend myself against those attacks! How did you film this? Head mount?
people really take sword fighting for some easy thing to do, it's not, to be able to use a weapon that big and heavy with such speed and precision is amazing
3-3.5 lbs, with most of the weight in the handle (which is long enough to get two hands on).... flexibility and endurance are more important than strength when it comes to repeatedly bouting in fencing. if you're only doing one-and-done kind of bouts (or actual fights), endurance matters even less. conditioning you mind to react without thinking, and engraining the effective mechanics, are the real challenge when it comes to weapons. By way of reference, my M4, when I was a soldier, easily weighed double what these swords weigh.
I got to try this once when checking out a local club with a friend. They put us in full gear and put us against each other for a few minutes. That suit is not pleasant to fight it, you get sweaty so damn quick I was out of breath just moving around. Learning the techniques was really fun but they required you to do pretty intense (for me) excercises to train endurance so I ended up leaving it at that. It's still really cool to watch though, respect for doing this!
I am so looking forward to my new gloves :) I have delivered and received several practice-ending blows to the thumb in those. Interestingly I think the hit in this video was in reference to the wrist.
Looked a bit slow until I realised In a fight things come at you real quick XD great vid, real fun. Wish I could spar :/ never had the chance to do it before
If you ever get the chance to LARP it's real fun without the chance of injury. (Well small chance of course) It will at least give you the experience of how 'fast' fighting goes without actually having martially trained swordsmen kickin your butt haha.
neighbors *calls the cops* cops: can you give a description neighbors: well oficer it looks to be two medieval knights battiling in the streets with longswords
