Caught this band live supporting Elbow in 2003 at Manchester Academy. They were brilliant and the lead singer came and stood right next to us during the Elbow gig. I shook his hand afterwards. Memories forever.
This is one of the most evocative songs I think I've ever heard. Still makes me feel the same wistful way nearly 20 years later. Amazing what power those four chords have if you know what you're doing with them.
@@deeingalaplike Listened to this episode today! Good tracks, I wouldnt mind if they left them in because I find gems like this I would never normally listen to.
I want this song played at my funeral. I must have heard it 500 times and it still gives me goosebumps every time. The moment at 3:43 when, just after you think it’s hit the heights, the guitars lift up one that one more note. It’s like soaring through heaven.
Ahhhh! Brings back those young high school memories of 2003-2004. Ironic as it is I found this song watching One Tree Hill season 1. I think this was in the second or third episode. Love music like this. I get a lot of great hits like these that you don't hear on radio anymore from One Tree Hill and TV shows from back in 1999-2005 and so forth. Those were memorable days. Good feels. Brings me back to good feelings every time I hear a song like this from that era of music. :-)
Every once awhile I still think of this song. Till now, I still can't recall how did I even get a CD of theirs, all the way from overseas. Back when there was no internet yet. I was still in school back then. lol
I actually asked a friend who was in UK (at that time) to search for the EP in stores, and mail it back to me in Malaysia. No internet back then. lol. Great times.
I remember both releases well.. no ricky gervais introducing me to shit. This is one of the biggest anthems. I used to cover it acoustically. Might resurrect that idea actually. I always thought Longview were a Mancunian band though!?
Had this in my playlist for a while without knowing the band; somehow I assumed this was from some American stadium band and was going to have 400 million views or something, genuinely astonished this band is not better known.
What a class song, one of my favourite albums. Can anybody tell me where I can get more of these guys albums? Are they still together, would pay money to see the live.
Johnnylips555 They released only one full-length album called “Mercury”. It is great, if you like this song, you will love that whole album. They are no longer together, but the lead singer is working on a solo album
My boyfriend played the drums on the studio album, which was recorded at London Bridge studios in shoreline, WA. Unfortunately they are no longer together, but by far one of the most underrated acts to date.
Gods love will save our lives and we'll come shining bright Gods light will save our sun (soul?) thy will be done. Wow can't imagine the illuminati controlled music industry ever would allow lyrics like these today. Good stuff love the autumn feeling this song conveys
Don't be fucking stupid . . . Longview don't fit in that category, but Christian rock is a huge thing and their lyrics are "allowed" by the "illuminati controlled music industry".
