Loni isn’t wrong but I need us all to collectively understand that Tyler truly doesn’t care to make better content because his base loves everything he does and ultimately they’re why he’s found financial success. Tyler isn’t in the business of making art, he’s in the business of making money.
“Better” is subjective. I enjoyed the movie. Is he not allowed to express HIS art through his films?? Just because his movies aren’t considered “Oscar worthy” doesn’t mean they aren’t good films and an expression of his art. Tyler has created a lane for himself and it works well for him and his audience. Let’s congratulate that instead of trying to force him to produce someone else’s “art”.
@@N.Z99.I’m speaking from a fan perspective and use to make it a point to buy his movies and plays when they came out and go to the theater for new releases… his stories have gotten lackluster and repetitive since he started putting his art on streaming platforms. And I fully believe it is because he knows that we will watch, make certain scenes go viral and make think pieces that will make people go and watch. His movies have now become a one and done, vs movies like family that preys or diary of a mad black woman that you can play over and over with a feel good message. I don’t watch his shows anymore so I can’t compare that, but when I think of his movies, I compare them to the older stuff. I use to wear my good deeds dvd out when I didn’t have cable. So I do believe that he can do better but I stopped expecting it and will continue to watch because I support him as a person and business man.

Divorce in the Black is a good movie. Loni and other critics about the movie may not be happy because their niche hasn’t made them as wealthy as him. The writing for these comic book movies, romantic comedies made by non black people are remakes, sequels, and copy cats of other movies, yet they are box office hits. They don’t have innovative ideas. It’s not the writing, it’s a popularity contest for those critics. He isn’t sharing his wealth with them or people they think deserve it and that’s his prerogative. Give people who appreciate and deserve wealth what they don’t get from non black Hollywood.
