Lovely to see this, brings back all the memories. Lonnie Donegan was a really great entertainer and his voice was unique. Thank goodness for all the lasting recordings to keep him around.
This has been so wonderful to see, my Dad was a huge Skiffle fan so I heard Lonnie Donegan all the way through my childhood. The memory of the music and seeing the stars of the day has brought back some wonderful memories.
Impossible to listen to him perform without tapping your feet. I was always a big fan of his, but didn't realize how big a star he really was. His music live on.
I wore out two 45 records of Lonnie's Rock Island Line. His album An Englishman Sings American Folksongs I still treasure. RIP Mr. D. You were a classic.
Lonnie Donegan was an inspiration to all us young teenagers in the early 50s. My father hated him, told me that unless I could sing like Slim Whitman or Nat King Cole I would be no good ! ! ! ! - Donegan was our hero ! !
Fantastic if it was,not for this man I would never have picked up a guitar as I did when I was 13 years old and performed with my own skiffle group all those years ago singing rock island line as my very first song now at 74 years old still playing gigs on my own and singing most of his songs and keeping skiffle and his memory alive on my own you tube channel Sparrer sings please check me out God bless him he was a one off and inspired John Lennon and Mick Jagger so without him I dont think rthere would have been the Beatles or the stones R .I .P . Lonnie
Shame i never met Lonnie 😔 Anthony Donegan is hilarious 😂😂 your son carries on well. It's an honour to see his son do gigs with my dad and his brother 👌
As a fan of Chris Barber band went to see them at the Caird Hall in Dundee in the fiftees, knew Lonnie was banjo player but as most of band had a break at suppose was ‘half time’ he filled that spot with few of band, was quite taken aback by what he was singing and music he was playing, have always been a great fan of Lonnie and his music. Sadly missed but son Peter doing a good job keeping his music alive!!!

Bruce Welch ISN'T a Geordie, He was born in Bogner Regis & Moved to Chester-le-Street, Co. Durham & Chester-le-Street is on the river Wear not the Tyne, He's more Mackem than Geordie FFS
Well said, there is no excuse for such an inaccurate statement. It is like calling someone from the Wirral a Scouser, or a Wolverhampton man a Brummie.
