Each one of them had his very own tone, they all were great Blues Heroes and outstanding showmen..RIP Mr. Albert Collins, RIP Mr. Lonnie Mack, RIP Mr. Roy Buchanan, you're truly missed and not forgotten. Fantastic Band.
While Buchanan is a talented player he lacks tone and soul. Albert Collins tone is more emotional at half the speed. That old saying is true "The notes you don't play are as important as the ones you do, especially when you're playing blues.
Lonnie Mack: One of the most underappreciated guitarists/vocalist of all time. His early 60s blue eyed soul vocals, and guitar instrumentals some of the best ever laid down in the history of rock/blues/soul.
You notice when you have three guys like this there's no kind of compation just a massive pile of talent and fun to be able to just jam with each other and kick back and enjoy the night perfect!!!! 1000percent talent and fun
Can u imagine that heavenly sensational legendary guitars and blue's singers band in heaven playing music for all....rock n roll and blue's is going on right now....There memories aren't forgotten...sadly missed
This show featuring these three blues guitar masters is SO good, it’ll give you chills...Crank up the sound as LOUD as you can stand it! Rock on Albert, Lonnie and Roy!
Timeless, sounds just as good in 2109 as it did back then. Legends all gone but live on with You Tube videos. Gotta respect the rest of the band all jumping in to jam. Piano man, Keyboard, drums doubled up. I think they recognized this was a special moment. What a musical era for our parents or older siblings. Today’s music doesn’t stand up to these guys. I’m glad I got to enjoy this via you tube.
Damn! All the lead breaks by these boys in this one cook pretty good all across the board. The character and personality of each guitar really shines through. I'm sure glad I found this one...
Oh Lord such sweet music they all make together. I wish they were still here so they could give us more of their music. Maybe we all have to go Further down that Road to enjoy and smile, this music touches something inside of me and I smile and I remember!
how could anyone give this a thumbs down I guess there's 91 people out there that don't have a clue as to what jamming is this is some amazing stuff by 3 rock and blues icons
I was lucky enough to catch a show at the Berkeley Greek Theater a few months before Stevie Ray Vaughan died, Lonnie came on before Stevie, and as much as I love SRV, Lonnie stole the show. I was so taken by Lonnie's tone I went out the very next day and bought a '58 re-issue black korinna Gibson Flying Vee just like the one he played that night, except his wasn't a re-issue. Best sounding guitar I've ever owned and I've had over a hundred over the years. Lonnie's playing was so good I don't recall much of Stevie's performance. He Lonnie, was a giant among men.
Yeah these guys sure weren't underrated by fellow guitarists, 'under the radar' is a good way to put it... i think even most serious fans of electric guitar knew Roy was among the most amazing ever
Met Lonnie Mack in Madison IN about this time. He was in a small bar downtown, during the week, and played his ass off. Had some drinks, I bought them all, his money was no good, told some tales, made me a happy guy. Steve Bruner took me, RiP
i grew up listening to Lonnie Mack and his great friends here in Aurora, Indiana and can say we got the 1st hand up on everyone else, with his new albums and such, him and my dad Bob Hudson still remain friends to this day and have played a thousand shows together over the years. they made sunny side inn a happening place for years.
RIP Lonnie Mack. Was at this show at Carnegie Hall. None of my friends wante Lonnie now jamming in Heaven. Whats with all the musicians dying in 2016! d to go so I went by myself.
I agree with seeing Roy actually looking happy. Every time I hear his music a sadness washes over me. His life was hard and I doubt he ever drew a contented breath. This video is a memorial to these three great players.
@@sagarpokhrel5357 I was just getting into the blues due to hearing SRV. I'd seen one song from each player on a show called nightflight on usanetwork. Then shortly after I saw this whole show on the playboy channel of all places... This launched me into the blues.
I was a teen at the Warner Theater in D.C. when Roy came out on stage drinking a Shclitz beer from a can & smoking a cigarette, he put the can on the piano, took a long draw off his smoke & began to bend notes & sccratch strings like no other. He put the butt between string & neck at tuner & proceeded to make his telecaster cry. He was amazing & I still feel honored to have been there. He deserved much more than being arrested for drunk driving & supposedly hanging himself in the holding cell overnight in Fairfax V.A. Wish he was going to be picking at the P.G. county blues festival again, where he performed in the 80s w/Johnny Winter on a clear summer day at the equestrian center outdoors.
I never heard Lonnie died. That's sad because he was maybe the greatest combination of vocalist and guitar man. He never got his due. The absolute greatest rendition of Memphis ever.
Albert Andrews well he was onto something there us Scotsman have been using the pipes to scare the shit out of everyone b4 during and after. It’s why we have never been conquered
@@woody816 lol the sound of cats in heat (bagpipes) is what made the Scots unbeatable... rotflmao not to mention the fact that everyone ran away from men wearing plaid skirts. Nobody wants to find out what is under their skirts... RUN!!!;... Lol
I Saw Albert in London 1991 in a beautiful venue whose name I cant remember....in the encore, Jack Bruce came Up to ThE stage and started jamming And Albert joined him
All three had the biggest smiles. So cool that they really enjoyed the gig that much. Priceless. Three entertainment masters doin what they do in front of a prestigious crowd in the greatest venue in music.... wow good for them, good for us.
@ Edmund Daley: I was fortunate enough to see Albert Collins and the Icebreakers more than a dozen times, and those hours listening to them were some of the happiest of my life. What an amazing showman! And such an old-fashioned southern gentleman, too. Never had a bad word to say about anyone. IMHO, one of the greatest electric bluesmen of all time. Certainly in the pantheon of the great Texas bluesmen, alongside T-Bone, Pee-Wee Crayton, SRV, and Johnny Copeland, to name a few. I also loved Lonnie Mack, too.
I have heard some great guitarists struggle against Albert, Roy is great but all three together is fantastic. Just goes to show how talented all 3 must have been! RIP guys.
I can tell why Albert had a reputation for blowing other guitarists away, and it’s all in the massive stinging tone he got out of his guitar. With just a few notes he does so much. He makes me think of a horn player more than a guitarist. I may be wrong, but I believe he actually said he played like a horn player, that was kinda his inspiration.
Holy holy holy. Such a gift! RIP You 3 rippin guitarists, but you live on You Tube. Some good things in life. It maybe nostalgic, "further on down the road" but it plants a great seed in the young minds of today. Mucho Gracias.
+Dallas Junior Sad day. I just came from Roy's "Please don't Turn Me Away" or I wouldn't have known. Thanks for the news, however sad it is he must be remembered.......Always!
FANTASTIC! ! What a trio! Lonnie bought 1 of the original issue of the Flying V , so did Albert King. SRV idolized Lonnie, I didn't know he passed away. Great comments out there folks! Roy did have a rough life & seeing him smile is so rewarding. Then to have the ICEMAN spraying his sub-zero notes !!! All I can say is WOW!!!
Most underrated on the face of this earth I was told that Lonnie was playing this good when he was 16 years old my dad and Lonnie got there first record deal in 50s Troy seals and dumpy rice on keys l got the pleasure in the 80s to spend days with him all the stories and about jim Morrison and the loss of Stevie I will never forget him truly a icon so humble words could never say enough d seals
I met him a few times. Once in a 7-11 store across from the venue he was playing & he invited me on the bus & I got in the show with the band. Yeah Dumpy Rice! Lonnie was a real down to earth guy. Vaya con Dios Mr. Mackintosh!
Sold out show I sneaked into. There was a snowstorm that night. Half of upper balcony was vacant. The sound was fantastic, which could not be said for most venues during that time.
Lonnie was one of those few artists who were better live than on a studio album. Why? He gave off this electric energy; and clearly loved sharing his art...
I saw Lonnie Mack once at Blues etc. in Chicago . His guitar rhythm was so good , I never wanted his songs to end. It was that mesmerizing. He was a technical genus when it came to creating rhythm with a guitar.
Saw Collins at a Toronto bar called Albert's Hall, back in the 80s sometime. Wish I had better appreciation of him back then, when you're young you just want power chords. Three giants here.
Albert Collins takes this hands down. Take note from the no. 1 tele blues master, shredders. How to space out your solo's. It''s not always about how many notes, it's how to make each note count.
Of it were a composition for guitar playing collections. Roy Buchanan plays Hey Joe as good or better than JimI Hendrix. I just think they each have there own site and nobody needs strings like Roy Buchanan but Albert does make each note count but seems to have played every leafthe same but I love him too. Lonnie Mack brought Blues and southern Rock together without screen knowing it
I used to listen to Wayne Rainey and Lonnie Mack in the cow stable when I was milking the cows. I think it was radio station WKRC from Cincinnati that I was listening on. That was in the 1950s.
To see all three together sharing the love must have been heaven! I was fortunate to have seen all in their separate gigs. Traveled through a Boston blizzard to see Roy at The Cambridge Performance Center where only a few others braved the storm to watch him conjure magic from his Tele. Later saw Albert at the same venue & had my mind blown when he came strolling into the mens room where I was taking a leak & he did likewise while one hand still wailed on his Tele with his roadie holding an insanely long cable to the amp onstage! I got to see Lonnie a few times & have been a guest on the bus & his shows. He signed my '64 Guild Starfire IV along with Srv & Double Trouble. I was blessed to have been friends with them! Vaya con Dios guys!
Glad being found by that ... the 'V' with its distinctive on here Angry Wasp Like tone .. Albert - I just adore his everything round his Tele .. and Mr. Buchanan melting his strings with the most innocious smile . what a gift to the world also these three men have been :)🌹
