Gordon and Shughart. They dived into the pit of hell to stand by their brothers. Balls of steel and hearts of Oak. Any group of guys that has men like that is exemplary of the very Best a nation has. Total respect and prayers for their families. Bless them.

Corporal Mat Aznan bin Awang (1960-1993) was a malaysian soldier that was kia while trying to rescue US Troops- he saved tons of troops that day but many people in the states have no idea who he was. Unfortunately the movie Black Hawk Down (2001) severely downplays the huge role Pakistani and Malaysian troops had in the rescue of American soldiers

I'm pleased to read your post. That movie if it had included your scene, could have made a huge splash for America and Asian friendly nations . Movies are as influential as religion if their masterpieces like Black hawk down. Imagine if they spent a few minutes, 4 minutes, 3 minutes or even 2 minutes showing what the Malaysians did. It would have just been another strong character and memorable moment in a movie full of them. It would not have detracted from anything. A short movie scene could have United these two countries in a way that would be accessible by the masses, not just by military professionals

Don't worry, there's a arguably ridiculous Malaysian movie about it that makes the Malaysians look like superheroes while making it seem like the US soldiers were acting like a bunch of sissies, while the Malaysian soldiers were hitting on Female reporters that didn't exist, and acting big and bad from the armored vehicles while telling the Americans to get on the roof. Lol yeah real smart. Funny thing is that the Pakistanis were never even mentioned in the Malaysian movie.

I remember as if it was yesterday, when Mike Durant was captured by a terrorist group up in Mogadishu, Somalia, I was still a young one and all of a sudden I wanted to join the army to go and fight the good war for America. I cant believe it´s been 30 years already from that episode. my bst rgs to you at 31 WAAY

It's hard to believe that it was already 30 years ago. I was just a young teenager, but I remember vividly what was going on in Somalia. Recently (9/29/2023) I got to hear some of Jeff Struecker's account and his powerful testimony about being a Christian.

16:30 it goes to show you that the field exercises where you're shooting live ammo back at the range or at the training center still don't approximate incoming fire and damage. What did The Americans think going into a city with their light tactical vehicles. They must have felt really lean and mean cuz they didn't have any big clunky clumsy tanks with huge logistical requirements to slow them down. They were in Humvees and people actually thought in the 1990s in my age group that Humvees were Urban assault vehicles. Cool slick weapons toting machines. No, they went into a battle zone with rear echelon types of vehicles and paid the heavy price

The situation could have been dealt with if troops would have been sent in with overwhelming force but no as usual it's just a few small different units of soldiers and Marines debt in with no tanks or armored support of any kind, no artillery I mean what did they expect was going to happen??!!

The text leaves out the men of the Air Force's 24th Special Tactics Squadron (Combat Controllers and Para rescue men) and SEAL Team 6. Sad that these men are generally left out because the people putting it together don't do enough research

We military mined people are the most dedicated and committed [BUT] now many years later and thousands of hours of research now understand we are also the most easily [brainwashed]! Every commit presented here gives the same institutional (U.N., D.C. Think Tank) reason as to why our military was there in the first place. Of course, when we are in uniform we are trained to [NOT] question the leadership which is run by civilians politicians-the corporations that own them and bankers. My comment will get reactions! I would direct everyone to read Marine Gen. Smedly Butlers book ‘War is a Racket’. This was the beginning of understanding what these [conflicts] are all about. Another reading recommendation is the book ‘Confessions of an Economic Hitman’ by John Peters. True morn your fellow military brothers and sister…but time to WTFU as to how we the military are the Useful Idiots for the bankers and corporations used to takeover and steal resources from poor countries.

21:00 this man is not a very good speaker and maybe age or infirmity his words are halting and hard to follow. But it sounds as if he went for altitude when they were still men on the rope because he thought they took an RPG hit and he says they went up 300 ft. I believe in my mind's eye that there were soldiers hanging onto the rope that went all the way up with the copter and then went back down when he was told of his error. Guys hanging on a rope for hundreds of feet? I

The operation could have been successful if it wasn't for one guy who shouldn't have been there, botched his rope drop and turned the whole operation into a disaster.
