Love it I had to lamps like this for 31 years I did this to one love it. During the beginning of pandemic I like every one was decluttering I have enough lamps (family) knows my weakness lol but good will was busy and I dropped off a lot of stuff and I gifted the other lamp to someone at goodwill to lift them and hopefully be creative like I did to the other one … hope they enjoyed…
Lovely! You're an inspiration to many. I'm in my 60s and have also painted lampshades from the thrift store. Always on a tight budget, I feathered my nest with second hand objects and furniture, and the results were usually great, always fun! What a relief to see so many young RU-vidrs living on a budget, sharing their creations while making life at home pleasant and thrifty!

Your lamp looks beautiful. You wouldn’t know that it wasn’t the very expensive one you found . What a wonderful feeling that must have given you on how much money you have saved. You really did an amazing job on the lamp and shade. Looks great in your room . So happy for you. Now everyone will be looking for old lamps to transform.

I was inspired by your lamp makeover so I tried it myself on a Lamp I have had in my basement for more than 20 years. It was a basic hunter green ginger jar lamp with a high gloss finish. I spray painted it with chalk paint first to get rid of the glossy finish. Next I used a paint brush and dabbed spackle paste all over it to give it texture. (Your lamp was prettier than mine to start with having the texture already). Then the fun part! I started to dry brush various colors over a base coat of light gray--burnt umber, and even every subtle silver and gold highlights. I love it! And it saved a ton of money. Unfortunately the shade trick didn’t work for me- the paint seemed to “gum up”. But I was able to find a shade at a discount store where I live for $10. Thanks so much for the inspiration !! I love your channel, your sweet cottage home and your many talents! Keep going- you are a light in dark times!! Blessings.

Beautiful Andrea... I was excited when you brought out the dark wax! LOL!!! I was saying to myself, “she needs dark wax now”... (. We all talk to our IPads right ? LOL ) Ouch to the other price and with young children....the tears won’t be as bitter if it is somehow damaged! It turned our grand! Now I wish I had kept my Mother’s 2 lamps like that. I let my sister-in-law take them. They went with her decor and PLUS, she gifted them to my Mother also. It is only right she should have them. Nice , nice, nice ! Have a blessed week!

I found a similar lamp at a favorite junk shop a few months ago. It was only $10 and I picked it up! I love it! I’m always on the hunt for great “bones” in a lamp!

Andrea the lamp look just beautiful I love the transformation I have not done a lamp I did a vase and it almost had that look but I got it at a garage sale and it was like a blue so I took it and I painted it as well and distressed it a little bit and I love the way it looks now but you did a great job love it like all the things you do. New lampshades are very expensive. I have a cool standard lampbase and I have been looking for a thrift shade for it, hard to come by. You have inspired me to have a go at painting one now 😃

Fabulous transformation Andrea! The patina you achieved is stunning. I have never chalk painted a lampshade but I have used floral spray paint on a few. I am skull filing that chalk paint rescue remedy for future projects. Thanks for the inspiration!
