This is my top 6 picks for best south Vancouver Island mountain bike trails of 2024. Flow, jumps, slabs, all-around, scenic and downhill. Have you ridden these? Do you agree or disagree? Let me know 🤙🏼
Nice vid dean! Airflow for scenic Snake hole DH, for all round Wildcat for flow Liger for rock Memphis for DH the only thing I there I don’t need to change me under wear after I ride it😂
Great video, as usual, Dean! Gorgeous choices and full agreement on some very hard choices. Another Scenic that deserves honourable mention is the Ridge Trail at Harbourview. That descent off Monument Mtn is panoramic. Although, it doesn't show at Trailforks anymore. New age trail gentrification. Have a fantastic day, old man!
Oh Ive heard of that trail, and I think I need to check that out now that is 2 recommendations for it! Haha thanks, getting older but its nothing a lil’ ibu profen and caffeine wont solve 😆
Fun video dean. My list would be: lower Memphis-flow, August’s or daisy-jumps, outlaw-slabs, spice girls or natty tread for all around, and patchworx for dh!
Great video and happy birthday, you share it with my son. I think I could ride some of most of them! Daisy Dukes was a bit nuts, that last drop, YIKES!!🐤
Nice! Happy belated birthday to your son 🎂. Yes Daisy Dukes is at the most extreme end of difficulty level… some other close contender trails at Prevost are also amazing though and less risk
Thanks man! Best climbing trail is an interesting one, there are definitely some climbs better than others but would you ever travel to a network to ride because of the climbing trail? Maybe some folks would, but the climb has always been a necessary means to and end to get to the descent for me 🤷🏼♂️
I’ve pretty much just added all these trails to the docket, thanks for sharing! I want to get up there for my first visit soon... Are any of them rideable all year?
I cant guarantee anything but typically the Jordie Lunn Bike Park with On The Rocks will stay snow free. Mt Tzouhalem and Hartland will sometimes get hit in January and February. Mt Prevost and Burnt Bridge are unlikely to be snowfree by January through to March
@@deantennantmtb awesome, thanks for the insight! No issues from releasing the 411 on the two unsanctioned trails, even though they are established? I did a video talking about unsanctioned trails at a spot that’s been around for 20+ years and is the “worst kept secret of WA”, didn’t say trail names or locations (even though you can find them on RU-vid very easily) yet some people were furious lol
Man honestly there can be valid reasons for trails to be kept secret, but what Ive found foremost is that some riders just like feeling superior that they know where a trail is and others don’t. I wouldn’t share trails if I thought they were at risk of being shutdown by the increased rider traffic.
Yo buddy! Ya I would say that at 11:11 is not the fastest line tbh, but i usually ride it because i find it fun to ride the rocks. Not for speed but for fun 😁🤟🏼
Okay thanks for letting me know. It’s not my trail per se, as in I didn’t build it, but part of my list of best trails yes. My understanding is that much of the upper part of the trail is newly built for mountain biking and the lower portion used a dead/rutted out moto trail. Now that the lower portion of trail has been repaired by a mountain biker it is again useable by moto bike. Seems to be a grey area there, but I certainly won’t be up there gatekeeping the trail access to either user group and hope that the mtn is big enough to be amicably shared by both motos and bikers.
The fact that heartland s now called heartland bike park goes to show how long its been sine i rode there lol back when i rode there everyone just said lets go to “theDump” or let’s hit up heartland. They had just built up the little trials area there when I was still riding there lol. Been a hot minute Happy Birthday
@@deantennantmtb hopefully the dump never makes it to the trails. Thank you for the list definitely on the list of must hit trails for whenever i manage to make it out there. Soon i hope
Hmm yes good point there. That trail is sensitive though, I don’t think the FN likes riders on it so not one I could include here. Best trails on the south Island that can be posted to RU-vid*
I am not sure what towns would officially be considered south Island, but for this video I included Duncan and south from there locations. Originally I planned to do best of the Island but it was very hard to narrow down so I limited it to just the south end.
Yes thats the gnarliest full run, but a full Patchworx is a close 2nd if you are hitting all the features. Daisy Dukes is rated the gnarliest (Pro line) and Id say its warranted. The interesting thing is although its the gnarliest, does that also make it the best? Not necessarily Id say, but it does have a nice mixture of steep chutes, jumps, drops, rock face and even the log ride so its well-rounded and a ton of fun to link it all together.
