The part where Hitler waited until the studio was dead quiet to deliver his speech was spot-on to real life; it was one of his oratory techniques in real life. The writers and actor did a brilliant job of making him funny in the comedic moments but absolutely believable and terrifying in the serious parts.
Is that really a question you need to ask? I believe the unscripted segments speak volumes about how terrifying a skilled orator with the most abhorrent views imaginable can be. The ending is the part that strikes me the most, the scenes of rioting far-right thugs in the streets, before it simply cuts to Hitler, in the car, with a red light shining over him. And just one, singular, chilling line. *"I can work with this."*
@@dividewalker5673 yes comrade, the director knew something about politics and the current state: Hitler is the spirit, not the person. So, problem is not in far-right, but in the conditions where They are created: how You consider yourself free if You are one hair close to get kicked out from your house or become unemployed because you are not so profitable anymore. But, the joke about leftists was good: western leftists are mostly a living comedy
@George Gershwin No, He is great and a great man. West makes a monster, but personally He is a great person. The problem starts with uncomfortable way of thinking that this person is the representative of the system build from somewhat close to current system and this is terrifying: we are VERY CLOSE. Seriously, look at the news and notice the joke about democracy: One nation, One war, (You are here) One leader of the free world.
As awful of a man as he was his art was actually pretty good. He was rejected mainly because he did a lot of landscapes but not many portraits and they suggested he take up architecture instead.
Bear in mind that the acceptance/rejection process is at the whim of whomever is in charge of the school. A different person may have had a different view. In any case, his surviving artwork----I HAVE SEVERAL PIECES, FROM THE KUBIZEK COLLECTION----shows that he was a skilled artist; as for the images of humans, that is a tough one for everybody. Even Michelangelo, when doing the Sistine Chapel ceiling, often had very plain-looking background characters.
For the first few minutes I was like "there is no way I'm going to be immersed in this movie" and by the end I was thinking "this is by far the most believable actor who played hitler"
I like how they don't sugarcoat him but also make him actually really likeable and charismatic, as he actually was. It's not as if everything he ever said was abhorrent, he would have never succeeded at capturing people's hearts if it was.

It's a meaningful movie, in a disturbing way. It shows us that people haven't changed that much since our darkest days, our progress isn't fruitless but it wouldn't take that much to undo it.
Exactly. Like that one scene in american psycho, bateman literally stabbed homeless man to death but no one mentioned it. But the dog getting stomped , people went mad about it.
@@mhungd7390 I had just recently watched a RU-vid video about the death of McAfee before coming to this movie. Quite a number of people in the comment section justified McAfee's murder of a man who poisoned all his 9 dogs, which McAfee didn't admit and it was all likely govt's trap. Okay, 9 is a bit-too-much number enough to push a man to do the unthinkable but I read others commented that they would kill anybody for even hurting their sole, single, only, one dog. Go figure.
@Muslimcel facts. The internet doesnt give a shit about people dying cause of poverty, crimes or diseases. Opposed to that, they be smashing and typing keyboard in anger showing how furious theyre after seeing 6 dogs accidentally got killed because they might have corona, forced the person who did that to quit their job, humiliated and sending death threats to him. @@dupeken multiculturalism is when people shares their different cultures, not living all by themselves like the outside World doesnt exist. I get that the german government is doing it wrong by just housing people from different countries and cultures without getting them through a cultural program, but to think that it is multiculturalism then you are buying in to their lies. Also it raises some questions about whether some germans would be willing to sacrifice their freedom to a dictator would he get rid of the people the germans do not like. It is a seducing idea to be the ones that get the advantages by default, but there is always a price to pay for it.
@@peterdinklage-jy4dl Nonononono. This was better. I watched Triumph of the Will and saw human guys and a bunch of what looked like tiny people and had no idea where those were from but knew that the actors were mostly German.
I like how they had to add the dog scene to remind people that Hitler is [supposed to be] evil because during filming way too many people were running up to the actor and expressing their joy and venting their political frustrations. Even the filmmakers were sad to admit that the satire was lost on many people and that Hitler would 100% be successful in modern Germany. The Italian remake with Mussolini got the same reaction.
It's unrealistic because Hitler was actually an animal rights activist, he would've never been so crass and irresponsible as what he did to that dog. I understand why the filmmakers did it though
He was not evil he was a person, like you and me, and you know what? you can be just like him, that's the whole message. He is not the devil, he was just a dude who got put there by the German nation.
Imean I get why people would vote for him. When politicians, bankers, and the media fuck over their own constituents in the name of $ and “globalization” while simultaneously promoting degeneracy and self destructive behaviors. You get Hitler. When you put the greed of a few over the need of the masses people will demand a change and often times a massive one.
1:31:54 I can't believe they added the Downfall reference. It's a scene where Hitler were angry to his generals and telling everyone to get out except for 3 people. It looks the same, the transition, the acting were all looks familiar to it.
When he takes the stage and is silent making people tense and than when he finally speaks. Wow. Sounds like something he would have said if he were alive today.
I just found out about this movie because of a review. And honestly, this gave me goosebumps. This movie is a reality check for me. No matter what you do, no matter what you think that is right to better the world, you just can't make everyone happy. You will always have enemies. You will always have those who treated you like a joke. And that line "You think I'm a monster? Then you have to condemn those who elected this monster. Were they all monsters?" Just goes to show how grey the morality in past conflicts.
I mean half of all the problem they had back then we don't have so we don't quite know how they lived back then. it seem like people now a days like to complain a lot more and not do the right thing to solve the issue. we have our own issues not related to the past but new ones.
And since some reactions of the modern Germans when seeing the one of the most evil man ever existed in history (alongside Mussolini, Mao and Stalin) are quite positive and politically criticizing on the Chancellor Merkel, Oliver Massuci, the actor for Hitler, used the opportunity to speak against racism (as we all know who was very very racist back then)
Its not, in the movie, hitler shooted the dog, but hitler is a vegetarian and likes animals, so thats impossible, and hitler loves his dog more than his wife
Risking a whoosh, I think he meant that Hitler here is represented as human as possible, not just an "embodiment of evil" like most shows represents him. A horrible human in today's standards, but human nonetheless.

yeah, it's exactly what the supposedly "democratic" governments claim when they impose their agenda: "We were democratically elected, the people gave us a mandate..." Yeah right🙄
There are many instances where the popular opinion is not the right one, an example could be Hitler who killed millions of innocent Jews and native Germans. You could also use the cruxifixction of Christ, everyone wanted to kill him when he fulfilled all the prophecies and only helped people. You can twist evil to make it seem good, yes there are some issues he talked about that he was right about, but the truth is that he himself is just as evil as the people he is trying to take down, he wants total control in the hands of one imperfect man and it led to catastrophe
It both saddens and amazes me. This film came out in 2015, yet so many concepts and themes ring true to this day. Hitler didn't succeed by being a monster; he wasn't a true dictator. He didn't have to seize power in the end. Afterall - like the ending of the film set says. If he was a monster, and he was so open of his plans, of his goals; then what does that make of those who put him into power, who let him retain it? The people are to blame... But what's more shocking is that even the ending scene has the public still involved. You can see it, the blurred faces, the differing reactions. These were all genuine reactions that people gave. The salutes. The waves and nods. Even the fingerpointing by that old dude. Truly, it wouldn't matter if Hitler were to rise from the grave once more - He'd continue right as he left, because even some public opinion, a decent chunk as shown by the unscripted interactions... Still very much supports, deep down, his philosphy. Anyone with a similar level of charisma or otherwise could verily do the same. He was an icon, a figurehead that was so easy to blame, but even now? It comes down to the people. And hey. Like the man said. He's apart of all of us.
how can you put abstract reality into material nature? Evil, dictator, deep meaning.. this is stupid. There is resource control and owners of resources
Which brings to mind these few people who want Global dominance, want to chip everyone, take away paper currency, people like Bill Gates making 3D meats, buying up farmland, wanting people to eat bugs instead of real meat, and those rich people funding evil things, yet they are not arrested. They're trying to convince people eating bugs is natural & tasteless apples produced to withstand long storage, but have no nutrients are good for you.
It is actually really scary to see how when he got popular, people actually are agreeing with him, how many people are taking his side even though for them he is a impersonator, but he is him, he is being himself, he knows how to manipulate the masses and the effects of that makes it even more scarier.
The fact is the left wing woke-ism has also gone too far. For every action, there's reaction, so you have the far left and far right in our society now.

There's something about 31:40 to me. He says "I'll take care of it" and she just holds her gaze on him for a moment, thinking. She knows it's not the real Hitler and that they're making some kind of movie/show from the cameras, so he isn't actually going to take care of it, but she contemplates it for a moment. The Grandmother's scene is the most powerful moment that breaks the comedic tone of the film. It portrays pure trauma without any humour, making a strong impact. Her line, "And back then, people were laughing at first, too," is a fourth-wall break that targets the audience, evoking guilt and reflection. The director carefully crafted this scene to highlight the unintended consequences of portraying Hitler in a comedic light, reminding us to approach historical subjects with sensitivity and understanding. It serves as a poignant message that laughter and amusement can sometimes trivialize the gravity of historical events. The director outdid himself. Edit: I just realized how dark the implications that the grandmother has severe dementia... yet somehow through strong sheer force of the fragile brain's processing power... She remembers it all. Edit 2: I just realized, she stood up the more her brain kept piecing each memory 2 in 2, bit by bit, she was all by herself... a living time capsule... THE ATTENTION TO DETAIL!
The bubbie sure snapped out of her dementia and suddenly had her strength to stand up out of her wheelchair and shout in wrath for him to get out of her apartment l
That scene didn't exist in the book version, nor does the scene where he shoots a dog, neither does the guy end up in an insane asylum. These were all added in the movie version to make Hitler look bad, since none of the stuff in the book had these cartoonish references to evil.
This guy's acting is really at its peak when the old fool at 31:59 says they should bring back labor camps (Arbeitslager). The response from the man is so unexpected that it probably has to take everything in you to stay in character. But instead, because he's a great actor, he doubles down and says, "Yes/right, work camps," looking him dead in the eyes without blinking like the real Hitler probably would have, astonished by the "cunning" of this individual to say such a thing. This is what really sold me on his performance in this film. It was true, so crucial, yet also terrifying to watch.
This is the third time I have watched this. The script is perfect...very tight. The cinematography/art design is brilliant! This is a brutal selfie of our potential and one of the best demonstrations of how a fathomless rich culture as the Germans were seduced into hell. We are now at that very same precipice. This is a true work of art and every actor deserves high praise for being there...not slipping into camp.
What do you mean by rich, if i understand it correctly Germany was still under large economic strain after ww1 and even further when the great depression hit. Maybe you didn't mean money. When people are at their weakest they are so much easier to influence, someone promising true change is extremely tempting to all of us, but if we are well fed and safe we are more likely to question. We use the term "monster" to separate ourselves from people in our society that have committed terrible crimes. Labelling them a "monster" it allows us to view them as not human and suggest that only a monster is capable of doing terrible things. The dirty secret is the so-called monsters are not monsters. They are humans just like us. Perhaps our species as a whole is a monster because every one of us is capable of doing the worst possible things. This film forces viewers to see Hitler for what he was. A human being who was put in a position of power by other human beings. He was born flawed just like we all are.
@@BaguetteGamingOfficial He was a human who was given power by other humans. He abused that power. There have been countless people who have harmed themselves and others because of their religious or radical beliefs. Calling Hitler, a monster is as ridiculous as the claim that guns kill people. I remember seeing this movie back when it came out for no particular reason, not having any high hopes for it to be any good. Boy was I wrong. There's a point during the end of the second act where the movie stops being a goofy comedy and just moves over into something more frightening. When you see the real reactions of the people interacting with him, and the truth of how a man like Adolf Hitler probably rose to power- not through terror but through adoration. I'm not particularly fond of the "movie ending" that (literally) tied up the plot with the main character per'se, but the ending in the car with the unscripted citizens of Germany heiling was bonechilling. Really striking meta-narrative. It almost felt like the movie took on its own life and went someplace really dark the directors wasn't expecting.
But they saw an actor and wanted to acknowledge the role. They have no concept of what saluting means. No one does the Pledge of Allegiance in schools anymore, so they don't even feel that when you place your hand on your heart while saying it. It's all motions with no knowledge or feeling behind it. Why they don't do it this in schools anymore is baffling considering the government is behind the school funding.
@ameliab7245 I mean, the difference though is that the nzi (censoring myself a bit because youtube) salute is banned in Germany and Austria. It absolutely does still have meaning that people recognize and shouldn't really be equated to putting your hand on your heart during the pledge of allegiance
