Cider should be busy dehydrating & canning for the move & you would be ready if you can't get out, at sometime it will happen. I live in the city & store is 10 minutes away but when we got a really bad snow storm---NOTHING WAS MOVING. I had nothing to worry about as I cad my food preserved, powered milk, extra meds, etc. It's just not about getting the land reay---its about having enough wood to keep warm & to cook on. Its about have everything, & i mean everything you & your family will need if you can't get out. Good luck to you & your family!!!!

That's cool I love it out in the country my uncle has a 120 acres by Elliotville, ny he was going to make it a camp ground but the deal fell apart I love it up there.

That is exactly what we have at the bottom of well - the one where used a diamond drill bit to go down 40’ into the granite base rock.

I've just bought 40 acres of Nevada Mountain land for 90K,its far up in the mountains but well within the tree line,and I can grow in the spring to summer but fall I have to start preparing for winter and it snows. But I bought it and built a medium sized village for me and my Militia there family's and other people we run across there to my property.

I envy your soil and trees. My 40 lost all of its trees in a fire, and I don't think the soil will ever look this good. Thanks for sharing.

Was nice to see another perspective of the property. Beautiful country. I'm sure sometimes it seems that it will never end, but trust me in 15 or 20 years you might be 1/2 finished. Nice truck, I just bought a 1980 3/4 ton like that with a manual and a 300 six. putting a steel bed like that on it.Tired of "check engine" lights. please put together a fire plan. and clear REALLY well around you house, those lightening strikes out there can damn near clear the whole woodlot in short order, once saw a biblical scene across Priest Lake, storm moving in, lightening strike instantly ignited a tree that was "skylighted" on the ridge to the west. Instant inferno....amazing.

Plant fruit, pecans, black walnut and apple trees for nuts and high dollar wood trees good investment and food need to build a ridge around your house to help keep water from running down on house Try using air and water to drill well works great good luck

I've seen this happen three other times but don't cut to much off of the hill . Looks like if you would get a lot of rain after clearing it could slide. Doing great though love the videos.

Here we are in 2022... Added 40 more acres to Red Poppy Ranch.

I have looked at your property on Google Earth and tried to make sense of your boundaries without much luck. I am a former surveyor and if your cleared road frontage is a property boundary, then you must own land up over the top of the hill if you own 40 acres. I suggest you download a free copy of Google Earth to your computer which will allow you to draw on and measure distances and acreage, plot azimuths, and see potential boundaries. It also lets you see old aerials which may provide useful clues. It would make a nice video. I would look at the description of your land on your deed as a starting point. As an example, the area you show on the video as cleared or thinned only amounts to about 4 acres. Multiply that by about 10 as shown on the video and that is your property. Get yourself a good foresters hand compass such as a Silva that can accurately sight directions and plot your boundaries on the ground. Remember that distances must always be measured on the horizontal, not on the slope.

With 40 acres do you have any marketable timber. We purchased acreage in TN and selling the older timber off we paid for building our house. If they come in to cut timber they will cut logging roads, another plus. To pull logs out they will rattlesnake grade the steep logging roads. You were talking about having a saw mill, but to get timber off those hills will take you years. I know you said you were close to Willow Creek Homestead and it appears there isn't much timber in that area. Don't get discouraged. When we bought our land in TN we hauled water for 3 years as did many other folks in the area. Living off spring water we were not sick those full three years. We were going to put in a milk haul tank to hold spring water but were told the water was coming in. Took gov't red tape 5 yrs total to get that water line. The county came up the main highway and we got rural community utility water, from that point on for a year we stayed sick all the time. We went back to hauling spring water for cooking & drinking. I think you have done a lot in the time since you purchased your land. Gosh what if all these complainers were actually doing this. Just trolls or wanta bees.

What makes me nervous is the fact that Utah's mountains, especially the lower elevation ones, don't have the rock foundation from keeping them from sliding. If you look at your neighbor's 120 acre plot, you can see a slide. I've grown up in the region and witnessed many slides. Whole mountain from top to bottom have changed communities and even main highway routes. In the 70's the area from Ogden to Bountiful used to have a "no build" beyond a certain point up the hillside because of slides. My aunt's house in Logan used to be the cutoff point for building upwards. We thought she would lose her house during one slide but it was spared. Fast forward to today, money talks and the authorities let them build even further up. Unfortunately you built your dream in a bowl. Words of advice, keep your situation awareness about you during prolonged raining days. Got Bless...*God Bless*

Did you buy the back hoe or rent it? I finally bought a tractor a few years ago after looking for 15 years and it sure saves the back. I have a mountain acreage, you can never have enough flat land so having the equipment to make plateaus is so handy. Thanks for sharing the perspective

What state do you live in? We have river frontage in Northwest WA on almost six acres. Several of our neighbors have fifteen acres and more but most have about what we have. It's nice not hearing any white noise, just the sound of nature.

That’s a decent amount of land I think that’s how much land I’ll need for my business.....and the houses for my employees.....do you think about 7 small houses maybe cabin sized and one large house like a mansion will be able to be decently spaced out with most of the space being distant from the mansion or big big building of sorts from the small houses?.....yes I dream big when it comes to my future

We drive the well points or as you call them sand points with water pressure (about 50-60 psi). We can drive 26ft well points in the matter of minutes and then we fill in the hole around the well point with clean sand.

one plus of living on the hill would be the ability to use a gravity feed water system no need for pumps!

Here in Wi., a fella can get pasture land for half the price of wooded land. Is it different there or couldnt you find pasture land? You def have your work cut out for yourself. Chop, chop. :)

I plan on leaving most of my trees... I like seclusion.. Nothing wrong with leaving property to someone with trees on it. Cut down some trees and make you a few dirt roads.
