Looking for a 14 inch semi-hollow?

Here I try the Eastman T484, a smaller, 14 inch semi-hollow along the same lines as the Gibson or Epiphone ES339. As usual I talk about the features, components, and overall build quality. I demo the sounds both with and without a backing track, plugged straight into my Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb with no pedals, after which I give my final thoughts.

Just got a gold burst T484 from Sweetwater a few days ago and I can wholeheartedly say that the hype about them is real. I have a number of Gibson USA guitars and a Heritage, and while they are very nice instruments (haven’t tried a Gibson Custom Shop yet), the Eastman is without a doubt the most perfectly crafted guitar I have personally owned and the setup out of the box is spot on. The case is one of the nicest I’ve seen, too. I love my Epiphone ES339, but the Eastman T484 is on a whole other level. It’s definitely a long term keeper. Might have to check out an SB56 or SB59 some time.

I love eastman guitars. I have three of them so far. I've got my eyes on a couple more. Best guitars i've ever played. I'm an old guy so i've played a lot of vintage guitars. Because forty years ago they weren't vintage. Eastman's are as good or better than most of the guitars back then.

I’ve never played an Eastman, but I had an old Ibanez AM50 , the same small size body, built in the 80’s, that was excellent all around. That Eastman sure is nice! Good video man.

You sound great. I love my Gibson ES339. I did not like the stock 'memphis tone circuit', so I got it removed, and now the 339 is my favorite.

Great playing my friend 👍👍 While I cannot afford high dollar guitars I just got a Gretsch g2655p-90 (the staple pickups) off of reverb in mint condition. Simply put, its Fantastic (& less than $300) ☺️

Hey Leonard great review, I’m lucky enough to own a T386 model for the last 7 years and it’s a keeper despite the funny shaped headstock the guitars only drawback but they seemed to improve that now, fantastic playing as usual, have a great weekend and take care ✌️🧷🎸

Great review and playing! 👍 I'm a fan of the full-size hollow body and owner of a Gibson 335, however, I've tried smaller sized hollow body guitars and enjoyed playing them as well though there are some tonal differences but often it's minor and maybe more of a mental thing. I do like the smaller footprint from a comfort standpoint; that's a definite plus!

Sounding great! Very keen to try one of these - could never feel comfortable with a 335 but after playing my Casino for a couple of years when I spotted this in the Eastman range I figured would be worth looking at (that would be after I grab the SB59/v, of course!)

Great sound. I recently purchased the 339 sized Dangelico with A2 in neck and A5 In bridge and I I think it is amazing. I suggest checking one out when you have a chance. Maybe Sweetwater would send you one.

Nice guitar and great review thank you. Also a good small semi-hollow body is the Ibanez GB10SE or the less expensive Artcore AG75 (same shape)

Thanks so much. Actually, I featured the GB10SE just about a week ago. It’s a very different guitar though. A full hollow, not a semi, and it has floating pickups, etc. You can check that one out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-j6qK2enz6Hs.htmlsi=PIzeMm1TX3wNjCMo

Hi. What's your opinion on those puckups? I tried this guitar at a shop and I loved the feel of it. One thing that held me back from buying was that I felt the pickups being too dark sounding. Maybe it was that the pickups weren't adjusted at the shop 🤷‍♂️
@leonardgriffieblues5845
@leonardgriffieblues5845 Месяц назад
I see you asked this question a couple of times so be sure to check out my other response. But the short answer is no, I didn’t find them excessively dark at all. Same Seymour Duncans as the T486. Try another if possible.

Great job on the review! Tried a D'Angelico Mini DC and an Epiphone 339 Pro. Still looking for the "right" one. Did you get a chance to put a strap on it and check for neck dive?
@leonardgriffieblues5845
@leonardgriffieblues5845 5 месяцев назад
Thanks so much. I’ve not tried that model D’Angelico yet. Stay tuned. I’ll get to it at some point. No actual neck dive, but the neck does sit fairly parallel to the floor. Not a problem for me since I don’t actually have to hold it up, but not the perfect angle hands free. I imagine that’ll vary with body weight.

@leonardgriffieblues5845
@leonardgriffieblues5845 5 месяцев назад
You bet. I assume you mean fingerboard radius(?), which is 12 inch, like a Gibson. If you mean profile, it’s an even C shape and the depth is in the video.

I already have a fully hollow T184MX without the horrible pick gard and all solid woods. It's incredible. Try it before you buy the semi hollow. It's better.
@leonardgriffieblues5845
@leonardgriffieblues5845 5 месяцев назад
Yes, the fully hollow, solid top thinlines are a very different animal. I had a 1981 Aria for years built exactly like that. I do like both styles though, having grown up around and having owned traditional laminate semi hollows. My take is they’re simply different but I can certainly understand preferring the fully hollow models. I’m sure I’ll get to one of Eastman’s fully hollow thinlines in time. By the way, I’m old school and like the pickguard. LOL. Thanks so much for watching.

Is the T184MX a fully holly body? I think it has a (small) center block. Greetings, Bart the Belgian.
