I'm sure the tester has its place. But I still check with soapy water. And it did narrow down the area of the leak before I had to pull the hob and sink up. The repair was a very dull tightening of the slack connector (most likely heat cycled) and then a spray with soapy water to confirm no more leak.

No, as as far as I am aware (and happy to be corrected) you don't need a GasSafe engineer to work on your own vans gas system.

It's on the list of gases it detects.

Hi, our gas detector can detect Propane, Butane, Acetone, Methane, Acetylene, Alcohol, Ammonia, Benzene, Ethanol, Ethylene Oxide, Gasoline, Hexane, Hydrogen, Naphtha, Natural Gas, Paint Thinner, Organic Solvents, Refrigerants (contain propane in), ect. Thank u😆

I didn't know it wasn't part of the gas. It's not my van.

That's not a thermostat, it's just a 12v rheostat that sets the Webasto demand level.
