Looking for Snakes at Mount Fuji! Stunning Tiger Keelback, Giant Toad, and More! 

I swear Japan is the most naturally aesthetically pleasing country on the planet. The US has more rugged grandeur, there are plenty of places with more drastic, dramatic landscapes, but there's just a certain refined elegance in the Japanese landscape. And it's fascinating to consider the ways in which the inhabitants have adapted their architecture, and entire culture, really, to fit in with that landscape.

The Countryside in Japan is so beautiful.

Japan is way more stunning than I imagined.

I spent a month in Japan years ago. Lived in Tokyo, visited Nikko. Beautiful country. Woke up with a Japanese katydid in my room one morning at the Nikko-Kanaya hotel. My wife freaked out, but I just caught it and let it loose. I also played golf at Fuji Country Club. A memory I'll never forget.

That civet was pretty cool. They're related to cats kind of like a prototype of a cat.

Whoa, that Tiger keelback is a nice looking snake! It reminds me of a Garter snake, with the big eyes of a Boomslang. Will you be able to look for Japanese giant salamanders?

Nice tiger keelback. Where I am at in southern Thailand there are red necked keelbacks, which look similar.

Okay so Japan doesn't have ringnecks but that poisonous snake has a yellow ring around its neck so I'm counting it as a win Seriously though what a STUNNING snake, that was almost highlighter yellow and the reds + mossy greens with the bands... Truly one of the prettiest snakes I've seen on your channel. LOVE the pattern on those metamorph frogs and on the giant toad!! And I know there isnt a lot of snakes in these videos but 1. I really love the variety in wildlife, the strange critters of Japan are awesome and seeing that civet and the squirrel was SO cool and 2. I really like just seeing what "normal", non-Tokyo japan looks like. very nice Kinda hope you drop down here to Brazil one day! Visited the zoo the other day and they had a stunning rainbow boa on display

Your deer sounded similar to the vocalization an axis deer makes. We have plenty all over the state of Texas

We only have some snakes litle poisen snake the Kreuzotter and all other are not poisen Ringelnatter Äskulapnatter and now they want replace the Hornotter (litle poisen snake) and some angry watersnakes mostly Black. For you Guys no place for a Trip but it is a wonderfull Country. Take care....

Question: Our son (grandson's dad) was in Japan in August, from the 6th thru the 16th, working at the Pokemon World Championships (video production). By chance were you in Japan around that same time period? We thought is was funny when you mentioned the Pokemon Center. Thanks again for the great videos!

If you thought the Tiger Keelback was pretty, maybe you’d like the San Francisco garter snake. I found a total of 2 juveniles many years ago, and I remember going to a friend of a friend’s house where they had 2 or more really big ones in an aquarium. Reportedly very rare these days, with urban sprawl, not to mention pollution.

Yes! You mentioned the main thing I was hoping you would find, the Japanese Forest Rat Snake. I wish you all the luck given I rarely see it's very close relative in it's own terrarium. Too bad the Japanese cave gecko isn't on the mainland.

That tiger keelback looks similar to our garter snakes.

Nice tiger keelback. It looks like a typical grass snake with coral snake features. Other herpers catch it too, so probably unless you squeeze one too much or try to put your finger in its mouth, it won’t bite. Also nice toad, which is almost identical to the European common toad, and the brown frog was probably a Rana species, which ecologically is like the wood frog. Also nice Japanese gecko. The density of animals isn’t that high, and it looks more like Greece rather than the US in this aspect.

Not sure what was making those noises on the road or what the foxes sound like in the USA but here in the UK in mating season, foxes sound genuinely like a young woman screaming... the police often get called. When walking through the woods at night, it is THE freakiest sound to hear that makes your hair stand on end! 100% sounds like a woman getting assulted, its horrible 😂

I live in Arkansas I was pouring some water from a leak and there r lots of vines by this window. I thought it was a bright green vine. I almost reached for it till it moved. It was this and a bright green in a bunch of vines. Not that I would pick it up. Just want to know if it is poisonous ? Thanks in advance

If you said the sun comes up in Japan at 5am but it comes up about 620 in Ohio are you telling me there are 2 suns and 2 moons because the sun and the moon are both in the sky over here everyday but Japan is on the other side of the planet so they just have there own sun and moon 🤔🤔🤔
