I owned a 1969 Datson pickup with the 1300cc engine 4 speed manual. Top speed was 74 mph after 3 miles with sails up running downhill with 40psi in the wheels. Dangerously slow truck. It did have posi traction but to no avail. Because of how light the truck was if you pulled off the road onto the paved shoulder and it had a light dusting of sand you were not going anywhere. I literally pushed the truck out into the road to get traction to get going again. Here is the kicker. I put a set of 50 series wide tires and rims on it and you could crawl thru golf coarse sand traps without a problem. And that mod dropped top speed to 62mph.

I believe it was in 69 you could have either the 1300 or 1600 engine. The one thing that really stood out for me was mine had an electric heating system instead of the coolant heater core. Instance heat while waiting for the engine to warm up. I called mine the 80 dollar truck. Because everything I fixed cost 80 something.@@adamanderson5055

Only one a year or so after I got rid of mine in 78 due to blown motor. Seen the next model years a few times up into the early 80s. I do love mini trucks. Bought a brand new Toyota Hi-lux extra cab in 1985. Most reliable vehicle I ever owned. Had to junk it with more than 500K miles.@@Americanrodshop

The Mustang is a FRANKENSTEIN, Has a 68 grille, withe the horse in the corral trim. 67 was different, yet it doesn't have 68 side marker lights , or rear red reflectors all 68s had, its also highly modified. I have a 68 Mustang i bought in 1977 from the original owner. Lifelong Southern California car, its 100 % stock, 289, automatic, factory AC, PS, in near mint condition. Love it. Enjoyed looking at all these cars i remember when new.

I bought a 67 Charger new. It was a 383 car, too, but it had a 383 four barrel insignia on the fenders. V8 signified a 318 engine.

'64 goat was first. Oldsmobile responded mid-year with the 442, which resulted in low production numbers. The 1965 442 was the first full year of production. The big engine/small car race was on.

Well the 64 "GTO" is awesome indeed and consided the grand father of the muscle cars but there was another before that that alot of people would consider a muscle car. I think it was 1962 could have been 61 but think it was 62... but the again Pontiac would build the Super Duty for the drag strips and that baby was a beast. But no matter how you slice it Pontiac had it going back in the early 60s

GTO - saw the first one at Hialeah High school in 1964. We had to look it up in the big dictionary in the library to find out it was a term Ferrari used to enable a class of race cars. The kid who owned it's dad was a GM dealer.

My 67 yellow Camaro I bought new had the Black Crow stripe black vinyl top I also had a 65 442 which I considered my first muscle car also had a 67 Chevelle one of the most boring cars I have ever owned I blew the motor on that one I rebuilt that motor with no help and no knowledge had parts leftover and no compression didn't have any knowledge of mechanics at the time but I had to learn because I didn't have any money either spent a lot of time in the junkyard learning the different parts and where they went to when my oldest boy was a teenager I bought him a bad motor pickup truck took him to the junkyard and had him learn like I had a good education

I disagree. The FIRST true American Muscle Car was the 1964 Chrysler 300K with a 413 Wedge Engine & Duel 4 Barrels. Deemed Car and Driver’s Fastest Production Car of 1964 clocked at 148 mph. Earning it the title “Bankers Hot Rod.” GTO? PFFFFT! Smh. A child’s pedal car against the 300k. Still…I love your videos! Keep them coming!
