I would never have purchased this vehicle. It's a shame to see this, because the Montero is such a beautiful SUV. Thanks for sharing. You can still recover all your $400+ dollars by selling the parts. Absolutely.
I did resell it and surprisingly made profit within a few hours of it being up for sale. It is a shame the interior was trash or it would have been a really nice vehicle
Mine is rough on the outside but has a near perfect interior. This is my card same year, make, and model. It’s crazy seeing what my car would look disgusting.
I have the exact same Mitsubishi got a hundred and eighty-six thousand miles on it mind a whole lot cleaner than yours I absolutely love this vehicle my title says it's a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport XLs
The saying should be “Looks and names can be deceiving” whether or not they both apply. A vehicle with a name that doesn’t indicate the truth about it can probably come up as well.
The way the outside is rough shows me the care of the mechanics will be just as bad which will lead to failures. If its ever been in snow country, youve already got rust starting somewhere under the car(ck past registration record)Gotta stay up on cars to make them last and trouble free. I tried the cheap route and learned after 10 yrs of junk cheap autoparts stores and hit or miss mechanics. Use factory parts and I hate it too,but dealer repairs, replacement parts . Auto parts will fail earlier than factory I know..... I learned the hard way. It costs more in the long run when theyre not factory orig parts, chevy, ford,vw rabbit , mitsu and others The right price to pay would be near salvage price. $1-200 if youre lucky.Smog requiremnts can kill you trying to pass. If the dealer didnt change the timing belt 100K . approx you could be in for trouble. These are interference engines and when the belt breaks your engineTop end is toast. Very expensive even if you can get a used engine. I checked 3 years ago and no engines except used ones for sale.Could no longer get new mfgd engines from dealer.Better learn all the expenses before you sink mo-money in a neglected or abused car.
I had a 03 xls green and champagne two tone lether inside and sunroof.. my old lady was clean had to let her go only problem i had was cats and a radiator had 179k on it
If I find a clean one should I grab it? I've heard these motors and Transmissions are near Bulletproof.. I had no idea if that's true. Apparently tons of people have gotten close to 300,000 miles out of these Transmissions
We have one with over 200,000 miles it’s a 2000 no big problems yet it sucks you can’t find aftermarket parts super easy as well as normal parts are hard to find also
@@williamperri3437 oil filters air filters brake rotors brake pads this is all stuff I’ve had to order because nobody had them we had some steering part also that’s bad that the shop couldn’t even get. If you are looking for a small suv I would try for an old jeep honestly
@@williamperri3437 also it leaks oil the previous owner had the engine rebuilt so it doesn’t leak oil and it still leaks I would trade this away in a heartbeat for a jeep lift kits are super expensive and hard to find for the Mitsubishi so if you are going to off-road it’s bad it gets okay gas mileage but the trans in ours heats up not sure what’s going on might need a flush it was well kept garaged the owners were 70s so it wasn’t rode hard I wanted to make it a fun little car but now I’m looking to get rid of it
@@williamperri3437 tahoes are good older jeeps 4 runners there are a lot better options in my opinion but it’s your money you can usually get them super cheap because people find out they aren’t super popular and parts are hard to get most mechanics don’t work on them or know how I have a Tahoe about the same year and it’s light years ahead of this and parts are all over the place junk yards are full of them and mine has well over 200k also but the Tahoe is so much more dependable has the locking rear differential has a v8 so I can tow I can sleep in the back and everyone knows how to work on them just don’t get the stupid options like airbags and they are good and cheap
Be sides that bio hazard on the inside the exterior is do able... 400 bucks and it's not running you have no idea other then previous owners word it runs.. I would have passed... Did you ever get it up and running
derbyman103 lol damn I've had a few cars like that I always find someone to strip the car for me so I don't have to deal with the smell I got a neighbor that will strip a hole car for a pack of smokes and a tall boy
