I wouldn't go lower in the rear but just some new coil springs in the front would level it out perfectly. Just stock new coils because first gens have soft coils that sag down over the 20+ years in the road

I agree, new springs up front will balance it, but if you are gonna change the rear again, do it soon, as the suspension parts will wear into place, exposed threads will corrode again, etc. either way, the new shocks were needed anyways, well done

Greg A P.O.R. 15 would do wonders for that ole frame on Scrap Pap. I used P.O.R. 15 on my 96 2500 Chevy it looks good, can't complain.

before you start working on the frame get you a sand blast attachment for that pressure washer of yours it will make life so much easier take it from a guy that's twice as old as you. also to get even more rust off you can spray the frame and all the steel parts with Easy-Off oven cleaner in the yellow can it's caustic so keep it off the aluminum. but it'll make everything nice and pretty and ready for paint.

Hey Greg, I did my frame when I had my bed off. Wire wheeled everything, then I pressure washed it, then I brushed rust dissolver on and then washed it again. (Be careful not to get it on the body paint). Then I put a couple coats of rustoleum heavy rust primer on the frame and then 2-3 coats of gloss black rustoleum. All the paint was brushed on to get it thick. Been a couple years now and still look great. Good luck.

I would run it for a bit to see if doesn't settle down when the new shocks get some miles on them. It looks good either way though. Love that rear view.

GREG_ALBERALLA try some rust converter on the frame, it not only gets rid of the rust but it also primes the metal for paint. I did it on my 79 F150 and it worked wonders

You should paint the valve covers same color scheme as the truck, light grey into darker grey into light again with a red pin stripe 🤙🏼

Use por15 with a harbor freight detail gun on the frame. Did that on my 98 Cummins and it worked great. 🤘

from my eye it looks like the front of the bed is lower and the back is higher which is giving most height change. check bed and cab mounts to see before doing something really difficult. also dent removal, hot water with the ball applying pressure and then ice cold water to shock it and sometimes will pop it out. also suction cups with heat might work.

pull out the other spring and put the one you took out back in. it will let the rear sit just a little lower and provide support when it drops down just a little in the bed.

When you restore the back half of the chassis you should get it sandblasted then paint over in black

Take that last helper out and the height will be perfect. Needs tint, traction bars, a roll pan that's not crooked as hell, black led headlights and maybe refresh the interior along with some bucket seats.

Back is still high because new shocks are brand new. let it settle for a week.

Shocks dont settle... They are either good or bad and the truck wont sag if you remove them completly. And the springs are allready sagged after 30 years.

quick question about 4th gens and fitting wheels on them, do you think you could fit a 20x12 american force wheel on stock ride height on a 2014 Ram 250p cummins? I seen in a video a few weeks back, one of your buddies with the white 4th gen was running 12 wides and didnt look like it was more than a levelling kit on the truck

Heaven Of course you can put 20x12 wheels on it stock height I just don't recommend driving on just the rims without tires 😂

Caleb Carlton it was just water. He said it was raining earlier and there are drain holes in the bed so when they lowered the rear the water could get to the drain. Nothing to worry about.
