Some of them have done well this year, I think it's the ground tarp. It think it helps hold moisture and maybe keeps my ground temp up a little at night. Have you planted 3 sisters? Corn, Squash, and String Beans all together. The old-timers have told us all 3 benefit from one another and produce a fine crop.
