Just add gravity and you'll probably end up with a pretty decent trail. In this case the local mountain bikers added Gravity Logic, the famous trailscapers that made A-Line and Dirt Merchant in Whistler. The people of Anchorage have been pushing for mountain bike specific trails for years and the snowball is starting to roll.

P.S., there’s an old book called “Mountain Bike Alaska: 49 Trails in the 49th State “ by Richard Larson (an old friend of mine) that shows a lot of the good backcountry rides in Southcentral; if you can find it. Obviously the Anchorage section is a bit out of date, but most of the trails outside Anchorage are still the same. Check to see if any biking prohibitions have been placed on them first though; things may have changed since the book was written.

Right on, glad to see you enjoying the trails in Anchorage. Those are some of my favorite trails to ride. If you’re ever back in anchorage again, I recommend riding at prospect heights, or the power line pass trail which connects to prospect heights. Or even if you find yourself up in Fairbanks, which is where I live, I recommend riding up at Ester dome, it’s a nice single track.

I saw a brown in the Hilltop parking lot that went up the Spencer Loop that we had just come down minutes before. They’re up there. Believe me. Generally there are at least 5-10 bears up in the Hillside at any given time.

I see you doing American bunny hops on the trail, and if you would just do that going off the face of the jumps, you would clear them with ease and have so much more fun riding your bike! Not sure what the mental hurdle is at this point, but you're just as likely to crash trying to stay low going off those jumps as you are just committing and clearing them. I hope by now you've met with Kyle Warner, and you've got it dialed!!

Spraying alcohol on the rotors stops the squeaking?
@Nit2315
@Nit2315 3 года назад
If you do it on the rotors and the pads, then breaking pretty hard for a long time sometimes it works. But on the trail, just a bit of mud on the rotor works fine too. If they keep squeaking, sanding everything on 180 paper then bedding the brakes again is the best solution I found.

A couple things: did you see backyard Seth's jump tutorial video where he got coached by someone. You should do a similar video and learn to hit those jumps properly. I hope you were taking advantage of this warm weather the past few days. I remember you talking about changing the name of your youtube channel once because you dont actually do XC riding.
