How do you know what size to make -- measure width of thigh and ankle? Also, when doing for children 5 under, between 6-10, 11 up, adult size how do we know how wide and how long? Have you ever done them to up thigh area, if so can you do a video on that style too, please. Thank you. Love your videos, so easy to follow. Finally, signed up for your newsletter! Thank you!!!

I wouldn't know how to size them for a child since I haven't tried that before. Doing the adult size was easy because I could simply try them on myself.

I just started using your pattern! A little tricky because I learned to loom knit working the opposite way around the loom than you do (are you left or right handed?) I tried making leg warmers following a different video and it didn’t turn out so well - I definitely like how you cast on and bind off better! I can’t wait to see how these turn out - making them for my niece :)

Glad to hear you are making a pair! I'm right-handed and prefer to work right to left (clockwise) mostly because when I read knitting charts, they start at the right.

me too about the directions I am left hand and I usually go left to right. then does it matters which direction?? I'm thinking of trying it and try and make me some leg warmers. then a 24 peg should be plenty big enough for adults. so it will fit good but not be too tight?? I just want to thank you for your video I most likely will have to watch about 20 more times before I ever get into ur way of stitches. I am still beginner. I did make a beanie hat and scarf set thanks sweetie

Thank you for your great helpful videos, I have one request. If you feel like it, can you also show how to knit socks with a straight knitting frame? I appreciate the work and time. Thank you and continue to have a lot of fun and success.🤗

hi catherine i love your video on the leg warmers I have a purple 31 peg round loom not sure how ajust to make these leg warmers would be so kind to help me with this 31 is an odd number and you are using a 28 peg loom would would make it look even. thanks
@hellomsyarn
@hellomsyarn Год назад
This can definitely be done on a 31 peg loom. The garter stitch body would be the same. But on the ribbing on either end, you would just do either an extra purl or an extra knit stitch.

Can I use my 24 peg loom to make these leg warmers for a 5 year old
@DancingNinja77
@DancingNinja77 3 года назад
I'm hoping to make a pair of these to wear when I wait for the bus in the winter but because I'm pretty new to loom knitting I'm not sure how to figure out what size loom is best. Based on my own calf measurements I'll only have about 1/2" of ease on a 24 peg loom but around 2 1/4" of ease on a 31 peg loom (based on my calf measurement, fitting them over my calf and measuring around the loom with a measuring tape). Plus my gauge is smaller at about 5/8". I feel like if I go smaller then the knit will stretch out too much and won't actually be warm, but it might be too big on the larger loom and just fall down my leg when I wear it. Any advice would be appreciated! 😫
@hellomsyarn
@hellomsyarn 3 года назад
You're right to think about negative ease since we want the legwarmers to be snug and stay up. I'd suggest maybe doing half a legwarmer and then walking around with it to see what works? On my pair, I have a lot of negative ease on the ribbed part (3 inches) and a bit on the garter section (0.5 inches).

Ms yarn, can I recommend the flexee loom links? This are links of two pegs that you connect with more links of the same size ( chunky links 5/8”gauge, skinny links 3/8”gauge and regular links 1/2” gauge ) there are also 3 peg links that you can buy separately for projects that require odd peg numbers, which you will only need 1 three peg link and the rest will be 2 peg links, also when you make hats you can reduce the bulkiness of the top by removing links, there’s videos that will show you how to do it, I personally replace all my knitting looms with the flexee loom links, all 3 sizes.
@hellomsyarn
@hellomsyarn 2 года назад
I appreciate your suggestion! I actually do own a chunky set. Interesting to hear that you have all three sizes. I often wonder which brands are the most popular.

@hellomsyarn
@hellomsyarn 2 года назад
Yes, you can make rectangular flat panels, and then sew up the sides.

New to the loom knitting and to your channel How do you count the rows. I've tried a few patterns of yours but I get lost on the rounds if I have to put it down for a while. Love from northern Missouri
@hellomsyarn
@hellomsyarn 3 года назад
Welcome to loom knitting. On my site msyarn.ca there is a downloadable pattern that includes a knitting chart. You could print it and check off rows as you complete them. Personally, rather than using a checkmark, I write down the exact time I finish a row. For some reason, this helps me stay on track.

@@hellomsyarn Thank you I have the leisure arts looms and my stitches seem big. Any way of correcting them to be smaller stitches?? Love from northern Missouri
@hellomsyarn
@hellomsyarn 3 года назад
I don't know the gauge on that brand, but in general, if you need tighter stitches, use the u-wrap/u-knit stitch. If you need to go even tighter, you can use the flat knit stitch or true knit stitch. Alternatively, you can use thicker yarn.

i use a digital counter. they are very inexpensive, but there are also manual, or 'tally' counters in which you depress the tab to advance the counter number. bass pro shop has for less than six dollars, called fish counter...
@HeavenlyInspirations
@HeavenlyInspirations 2 года назад
There are also dozens of free counter apps. That’s what I use, and it helps a lot. The counter will stay wherever you left it.

Can I make it all in e wrap ones?
@hellomsyarn
@hellomsyarn 3 года назад
I would keep the rib stitch borders because the ribbing is stretchy and elastic and will help the legwarmers stay up. That said, feel free to use the e-wrap in the body, instead of the garter stitch.

the bind off is very confusing is there an easier way to do this

If I remember correctly I did the stretchy bind off in this video. There is also the basic bind off which is good too.

@hellomsyarn
@hellomsyarn 2 года назад
The odd number of pegs would affect the rib stitch. On the 31st peg you can do an e-wrap knit stitch when doing the rib stitch. It is also ok to purl on that 31st peg - it's a matter of personal preference. Hope this helps.
