Use of the Loon colored resins results in a translucent end result. Previously Loon, used to sell numerous colors of “coloring powder” that you would add to the clear resins by mixing them with the resin in a rubber cup. You would then have to apply the colored resin with a Bodkin of similar tool. I have about 20 different colors of the coloring powder which I use to augment the Loon colored resins to darken them up substantially. Good tying!

I started tying as a teenager. Back then there was no UV resin, and we just used nail polish and epoxy. Nowadays, I'm still good considering the relative cost of a bottle of nail polish and regular epoxy as compared to the UV light and resins.

I got my Infinity torch yesterday. My fourth try at using something that works fast. All other flash lights work but takes too long and battery life is short, then you have to replace the batteries. Infinity torch is the way to go with rechargeable battery that lasts and provides plenty of power for weeks or months.

If you get it warm with a lighter, it’ll get rid of the micro bubbles in your finish it will be perfect.. learned that from trod building

Hi Norm, I have never gone down the UV road yet. Thought about it, but had mixed feelings due to the reviews I have read. But will consider it again now as you recommend that torch. Thanks for sharing. Take care mate. Shaun UK.

The nail polish has to gas off while drying. If you hit it with resin before all the gas’s are gone is why it bubbles up or cracks. No problems when doing a lot at a time and staging them. You need to give the Solarez a try. I found it to be the best, in my opinion. No clouding or yellowing over time. The Bone Dry only takes about 10sec to completely cure. Thanks for the videos.

I still use sewing string Walmart hooks and nail polish for my flies because I’m broke and fly fishing is not so much for the poor
