but i do not love the fact that while Daffy Duck was singing Mr. Schles-Schesling- Leon was just ignoring him by smoking a cigarette and reading a newspaper
Wait, so Daffy when he's a greedy jerk is based on their old boss (because Eddie Selzer was the boss around the time that Daffy went from being the wacky duck to the greedy, selfish one who wanted to be more famous than Bugs Bunny)?
Along with being an amazing cartoon, and along with being the first short to include Daffy's modern personality, this is also an incredibly interesting cartoon. Mainly because It's half animated and half live action, but also because it features people who are usually words on the screen. Honestly, this is an amazing Looney Tune and one of the best as well.
apparently one of the reasons why Daffy Duck's personality got tarnished and Porky pig's popularity detiriuated aside from being outcompeted by Bugs Bunny is because of Leon Schlesinger retiring from Termite Terrace and the departure of the best directors they ever had Tex Avery, Frank Tashlin and Bob Clampett
Thank you so much for posting this. All I wanted to see was that driving scene for some reason and you had it right here. I do this where I think of something and have to see it.
Adjusted for inflation, for March 2023 that would be $2.82, which is below the average price of fuel in Texas ($3.10) and way below the California average ($4.87). As we all know, California usually has the highest fuel prices in the country.
1:39 Daffy: Hey, what's the matter? They try to cut you down to 9,000? Pause on 1:43 Porky: No, the whole pictures business you suggested didn't work out after all. It was a good idea, though. Daffy: You mean you're not mad? Well, I'm glad you're taking it so well. (Resume at 1:43)

‘Playing opposite Greta… Garbo’ Greta Garbo was a famous female movie star in those days, so Daffy was trying to swindle Porky by getting him to leave WB for a job with her
I’d say Bob Clampett’s Daffy was more of like a mix between Narcissistic Daffy and Crazy Daffy, leaning more on crazy Daffy. Purely crazy daffy was more of a Tex Avery thing
