Tim, the technology involved with modern farming does two things: It astounds me and reminds me that my know how is as obsolete as the old equipment I last farmed with. Thank you for all you do to help those younger than I that actually know what you’re talking about lol

Hay, you use a computer to watch these videos. You have come a long way, lol. This technology is helping today's farmers to be able to make decisions on field inputs and the ability to save money. In the end, if you can save money, you can make money.

We bought and installed a Loup Elite population monitor in our 750 and love the thing. Got the large display so it easy to see at a quick glance and it’s very accurate plus I believe it will do population for small grains

Yes, it will do small grains as well as mixed seeding for cover crops. It is very accurate on the rows it is watching. I have it on 8 of the 24 rows. I was shooting for 155k. Roe 8 was the lowest at 125k, and 2 was the highest at 170k. I worked on balancing the 2 sides of the drill, but of the 4 on each side, it was very close to 155k. However, the bags used to acres covered, I averaged 175k. So, I need to see if I can get the rows balanced closer by adjusting the fluts. The one side of the John Deere 750 was at 13, and the other was at 17. I am very pleased with it, and how it worked on the planter was even better.

Cousin I have to wonder if something like this could be adapted to work on the 71 flex planner? Sure, would be nice to have peace of mind knowing that the seeds are dropping. Tim, thank you very much for showing us this. always enjoy watching your videos. I'm always here, but don't always comment. God bless you, Brother.

I'm sure there is a way, but I'm not sure what it will take. You will have to get the sensor on the seed tube. I didn't measure the hole, but on the planter, the digital sensor is octagon. I would guess ½" to 9/16" hole. The analog sensors need a round hole that is about ½". You will need 1 sensor per row on a planter, a wiring harness, and a monitor. On the drill, you can get by with 1 sensor for each shaftand and/or bins. On my old 8300 drill, the shaft was split in th middle but also had 2 bins. So, 2 sensors would work. Try to pick the rows that run out of seed 1st. In most cases, that is the ones on the end. None of this stuff is cheap, but when you plant too much or have to replant because of a planter problem. It will pay for itself quickly. Good luck, and as always, if you have questions, I will do my best to get you an answer.

Where the hard tube goes into the flex tube (that you had to heat up) there's no hose clamp required to make sure that they don't come apart from an impact or something snagging them, or even vibration from field work?

It might be a problem when the flex hose gets bad, but I'm telling you that they are that tight. I had it out today figuring out where to put the lift switch. When I had it down and the tube were stretched out, they were not coming off. I had to really pull and stretch to get them on. Will see, but I don't think I'm going to have any problems.

I noticed in a recent video of you in your shop that you have a MF 925 haybine. I've had a model 725 for about 12 years now and really like it. Do you like your 925?

I do, but the reverse thread special bold that holds the pitman to the shaft keeps coming loose, and then it will break. We have had to put one on almost every year. I now know to look for it. So before I start the mower up, even if I turn it off in the field, I check it, and it is a round or 2 loose. I'm not sure what to do about it. I do know lock tight is not an option. We did that one year, and it was almost impossible to get the broken end out.

@@TAHDAHFarm I never had that problem.
