I just realized I have been looping without knowing it! I loop a few subjects in my daughter’s independent work binder. I have a tab for each day of the week. Math has a worksheet for every day, but geography, grammar, and logic everyday was too much. I give her one of those everyday. I even loop the logic within that loop. Ha! The grammar and geography come from a workbook where it’s intended to be a page a day, but since it’s front and back I just assign the front and back. In the end, we’re getting the same amount of work done each week but with fewer transitions between subjects each day. Cutting down on transitions makes the difference.

I’m that type a mom that you talked about in a blog post. People telling me to take it easy because I have a 5 year old, 3 year old, and a new baby has only made me even more anxious. 🤯😱. Like you said, most times everyone’s happier if we just do school. The structure and activity make life easier. All of your teaching has been such a blessing. The idea of a minimum viable day is going to help me make sure the necessary learning gets done. The idea of looping is going to give us time (barring baby and toddler meltdowns) to do the things I want to do to bond our family like poetry tea time, board games, and reading tons of picture books. 💕💕💕 Don’t even get me started on the lesson plan list and procedures lists! 👏👏👏 So simple! Your teaching is so empowering. Thank you, thank you, thank you! God bless you and your family!💛💛

I am so thankful for "Plan Your Year". Loop scheduling and many of the other elements listed in your book have been really helpful for this scatter-brained creative mom! Planning and organization are my Achilles heel, and it is a blessing to find a resource that walks me through this process in a realistic way.

Love the pic of “Pam the Philosophizer”. Lol! And YAY for more RU-vid videos! I definitely lean towards more of a visual person so I appreciate having this format! Nice explanation of looping. I always love how succinct you are while also giving plenty of examples. Thanks for sharing these ideas for me to ponder for the upcoming school year. :)

Thx Pam, what’s your thoughts for High school looping
@PamBarnhill
@PamBarnhill 4 года назад
I think in high school you want to bring your child into the decision-making process more. Do THEY like looping since they can be more in charge of their own schedule? But it can still work. One of the beauties of looping is the flexibility of not feeling "behind" for missed days, but if you are trying to finish a science book for a credit, be cautious. Looping may help you not feel behind, but it won't be fun to run out of the school year and find yourself half done with the book. So stay on top of progress.

I want to do this so bad and I have tried making loop schedules before and failed. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. (Not a good planner here!). I do morning time for 30-60 mins each day and that is the most consistent and effective thing I do because it’s daily. Then, I work youngest to oldest with my 3 to get through math and reading lesson (with 2), my oldest can read a chapter and do math mostly alone. After that, things get crazy! I need to loop my oldest son’s language arts because he needs help with all them but what happens is I have time for maybe 1 thing of LA per day which leads to only doing spelling once or maybe twice a week when it needs to be more like 3-4x a week and grammar falling to the wayside, etc, etc. Your loop which contains like 10 things is something I haven’t been able to accomplish. Are you setting aside a certain amount of time for looping? I don’t know if I need to do that or even set a time limit on working with the younger 2? Help! Also, I’ve tried looping science and art but I never get to it unless I include it in morning time.. and I don’t want to do that loop when I haven’t even finished language arts. Argh! It seemed like loop could be the answer but I need some troubleshooting help

First of all, my "loop time" is my morning time -- not something in addition to. How old is your oldest? Sounds like you have a ton of things going on. You might need to prioritize what is most important and let some other things go (for example none of my kids do writing - composition - before the age of 10).

Loved the content of the video about looping, but why was it so glitchy? The focusing in and out of the camera was distracting. Is that the new edgy style? I must be getting old.

No! It was me trying to learn my equipment. At some point, I have to stop being a perfectionist and just put it up there. It should get better as we go. :-)

This was the first time I came across your content and I appreciated it. Creating videos that look high quality is difficult. I'm glad you didnt let perfection get in the way of uploading for the benefit of everyone . Keep up the good work.
