I was a sound engineer in those days worked with all the british rnb groups including loose ends . Best days of my career. Now retired as i cant be in a studio infront of a computer with little or no talent. Soo glad god gave me that time period and honoured to have worked with the british soul rnb artists .

1985. They are a R&B group. Now, this is an extra chilly most joint! Loose Ends (& Soul II Soul) showed that brothers and sisters in the UK had soul too!! You Can't Stop The Rain, Slow Down & Watching You are some more super jammy jams from them. Requests: Bobby Brown- Don't Be Cruel album. New Edition- NE Heartbreak album. The New Edition Story movie.

They helped epitomize The Black British Soul Movement that unfortunately got overlooked by Groups like Duran Duran, Wham, Madness, Tears For Fears, Banarama amongst others. Also keep in mind that the Second Wave of the British Invasion was from 1983-1986. Also if you can check out Joyce Sims, Billy Ocean, Soul To Soul. The UK also had an amazing Girlband named Eternal and a Group called Damage. One of the Members Jade Johnson is married to Emma Bunton aka Baby Spice of The Spice Girls.

Thank you for breaking this down. That's a true amalgamation of music from the diaspora! Im based in the US and grew up listening to is. now that I know this info I cant unhear it. That baseline is straight lovers rock! and the other part of the beat is pure hip hop house blend. Ahh! This is why I love comment sections with real music heads. I've always been fascinated with UK R&B.

Thank you for reacting to this. I am a black kid who grew up in Midwest, listening to traditional American R&B and soul. Loose ends introduced me to the concept of the black diaspora and the reality that there was tremendous black, cultural talent, and relevance beyond our shores, it’s hard to recognize now, but They brought a completely new sound and production capability to the music we were listening to at the time. And they influenced American music and ways that weren’t really understood at the time and even now.

Yes young man you keeping on paying attention to details not just the lyrics the style of voices. But the music and the production. UK soul love emulates American soul back then. They admired the west this was a banger and still is back then people used to think they was american. You might be surprised how many artist that was from the UK. This came out in 1985 I know i was getting out of high school. Keep digging in the crates what they used to say you will find more gems.

You can tell they were influenced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Jam and Lewis went to confront them backstage after one of their shows for stealing their sound. When they met them, Jam said that they were so cool that it was too hard to be mad with them and they apologized for stealing their sound.
