Danny Ings scored an equaliser in the 95th minute at Craven Cottage as it finished Fulham 1-1 West Ham United. A valuable point in the Premier League for the Hammers but Julen Lopetegui has worried fans with his team selection as he included Michail Antonio and Tomas Soucek, which also seen a very poor performance from the Irons in the first half. The club should do a interview with Loppy and get some kind of insight into what he intends to do with the squad over the next season and what he thinks that our style of play will be as the fans are completely confused and a little nervous at the moment.

I'm pleased we have a manager who is not scared to use his substitutes but the first two were totally self inflicted by that starting line up. We have to give the guy some time I just hope he is no where near as stubborn as the last one. If he really did watch us as much as he said last season then I am baffled by that first half set up which was complete ground hog day ( maybe 10 yards further forward). On a positive I thought Sumerville looked lively if not a bit light weight. Solar could be a player for us he certainly puts himself about maybe fortunate to not pick up a red but to be fair I didn't think his first challenge warranted a yellow.

I hoped that this temporary (if initially successful) experiment had ended 2 years ago. To see a player who would have solved our decade+ long search for a competent striker add millions to his value by the week who we could have had for the relative price of two players as yet barely given minutes and know we would already have made a profit on him, is galling to say the least. How big a foot do you need to take aim at and this does pose the question who at the club in the end made the final decision on the Duran deal because there really is only so many moves of wingers to striker that you can get away with whereas Villa showed yesterday how having two top class actual strikers can transform your chances and thus general team confidence.

i kinda feel like lopetegui is looking for reasons to drop players so he can play others and keep everyone happy.......great show again but my stream stopped 3 times for adverts in the middle of sentences, so i have to rewind then i'm not live anymore so i might aswell stay in bed and watch it later...sorry ...keep up the good work.........

That’s 4 goals in a week for Ings! I know one was just a friendly but strikers are built on confidence so he’s in a hot spot! Hope he keeps getting opportunities right now and not left a month before he gets another shot

I was fuming when I saw the starting lineup. I was fuming even more at HT. We burgled a draw, though we were much better in the second half once we had a more appropriate team. As of this morning I can see a few positives. Firtsly Loppy's willingness to make changes, and do so early. Ings showed what he can do when he gets an opportunity, he's really only effective in the opposition box, and if he's not given the ball at his feet there he adds little else. Surely we will never see that starting lineup again, so that would be a lesson learned (hopefully). And yeah, Areola had very little to do. Antonio can't start any more, jetlagged or not. I see dropping Soucek as a way of keeping Rodri in alongside Alvarez with either Paq or Soler. The lineup I called for the game was 433 with Kudus as a false 9. Areola AWB Mav (would start Todibo from now on) Kilman Emerson (not having a great time atm) Rodri Soler Alvarez Bowen Kudus Summerville. That's what I called BEFORE the game, and would bring in Todibo now.

The starting 11 was all wrong from the start I can't stand soucek and people carry on his a good player he's not he's a big lad who misses more goals then he scores why pick him and drop paqueta. We all wanted to see bowen upfront kudus on the right summerville on the left and paqueta as 10 i don't see why soucek gets played i would rather see Irvine but I'm glad ings got a goal should come on as a sub more often

I can't help but wonder if this is a stroke of genius from Loppy? Soucek, Ant etc are popular in the dressing room and also big players for Moyes and West Ham historically. If he just dumps them it could affect internal morale. By giving them a few starts, them being awful and him having to replace them at half time then they can't have any complaints because they've been given their chances. He can then bring in his choices. By doing this, if also gives some new players a chance to slowly integrate. Win-win. Of course, I'm probably completely wrong! 😂

Sorry I missed you live. The conundrum for me is fitting the right 10 players in without weakening the defence. I like Guido, he’s quiet but there. However, I’m thinking we need to have just Alvarez in front of the 2CBs with Paq as 8, Kudus as 10 for the link up. They’re on the same wavelength. Leaves Bowen and Somerville wide with Fulkrieg hovering in the box. Some games need a back 3. More attack leads to less defensive work. J-Lo is probably still trying to get it right on the training ground and being conservative atm. Give it time.

Concerned with what I’ve seen under Lopetegui so far but I think we have to give him the full season before we can fully assess him. Play like that with the same starting lineup and Chelsea will beat us easily.

I know we are only four games in but for me you should start these types of games with your strongest line-up. I have some slight concerns with Loppi especially when I saw Antonio and Soucek in the starting line-up. Especially given the historic fact that Antonio seldom performs after playing international football and should have been left out of the squad for this game as Gonzo's dad suggested and I agree with him. Loppi knew he made a mistake as he rectified it at half time. I think when Summerville and Paqueta came on, the game changed. Also, I wish people would stop banging on about Duran, that ship has sailed, get over it. Villa were messing us around with the deal and kept moving the goalpost. I am glad that we said we are walking away and actually stuck to that. Yes Duran is an excellent player but it is done now and we need to move on.

Thought our defence looked fine , issue for me was we had no pace or creativity in midfield and even with the two DMs playing we were overrun by the Fulham midfield similar in how we were under Moyes . Doesn’t help playing Kudus out on the left , all his best work is done out on the right or up front .

How do we know or expect Lopetegui will realise Soucek or Antonio don’t benefit the team or system. The fans were realising players weren’t fitting into the team under Moyes who never saw the same issues the fans noticed week in week out.

Early days but the team selections have been Spanish Moyes. That’s what is making everyone nervous. If we were playing the team we’ve bought and losing that would be one thing, but the selections are all over the place.

Houston we have a problem. I thought most managers would have watched west ham last season thinking that Antonio is finished and Souchek is done at west ham. Seems lopetegi is on a different page to the supporters but the same page as moyes. It's very worrying. The fulham goalie had 2 saves to make all game, 1 he failed to save but should of. We are severely disjointed and it seems we don't know what the game plan is. Sounds familiar doesn't it. He needs to sort this out fast or he will hear the fans disgruntled during the match. It's dire and we kind of expected it as not many wanted this manager at West ham.

Soucek has been playing well until yesterday and the fault was behind him, to be fair, without a ball player to link the middle and without having the ball played in and around the box, where this strengths are obvious. Like most players who are not the elite, he brings some strengths and some weaknesses. Unless your a top team that can attract the elite players and have the budget and silverware to do so, then that's just what you have to work with. Too many West Ham fans thinking that faultless elite players are two-a-penny. Common faults in midfielders are getting knocked off the ball too easily, not press resistant, lack of speed, small range of range or quality of passing, stamina (getting leggy early in games), lack of positioning sense, heavy in the tackle, not pressing tight enough or too tight. So far we don't have an all out top midfielder except possibly Bowen. Correct me if I'm wrong. So, picking on Soucek as the problem is missing the big picture. It's hard to drop a player who regularly brings goals to the team. Football 101. Instead you build around his faults if you can.

Trying to justify the line up that Lopetegui was wary of last seasons result and therefore tried to be more defensive. We also played a higher line and pressed more and only conceded one goal which given more time we’ll prevent. Made changes at half time when it wasn’t working and most importantly got a point. Maybe I’m being too positive 🤷🏻‍♂️⚒

Was at the game yesterday and for most of it we got bullied by Fulham which was something I never thought I’d say. They were bigger and stronger than us all over the pitch which is a worry as other teams would have seen that. Antonio was non existent and the only bright spark was Summerville who looked good.

What's got under my skin (other than the inclusion of Soucek and (particularly) Antonio yesterday was not only the highly questionable decision to play him so soon after returning to these shores, but that of Antonio himself to continue to clock up miles going to represent Jamaica when he struggles nowadays to complete much more than one half of football (at least at Prem levels.) We all love the guy but personally I can't help but feel frustrated with him that he doesn't seem to find it irresponsible in any way, or detrimental in any way to his contribution to West Ham to continue to spread himself so thinly in the winter of his career when he really ought to be focusing on West Ham and West Ham alone - it does neither himself or the club any favours. I can understand to a point that he proudly wants to play for his national team - I just really do wish he would knock it on the head. Should've done a couple of years ago by now in my opinion.

Imo, fitness levels are not up to standards for the gaffer. It looks like it when we play, we are off the pace esp when trying to play out from the back. Remember most players came in at the end of pre-season and the team overhaul isnt helping. I just hope Lops starts with more of a attacking line up against teams like Fulham and go more defensive against the so called big teams as, us as fans would understand going double pivot for them. Chelsea game should be an interesting test and bar Soler we shouldnt have fitness problems the. Its too early to hit the panic button, maybe when we are 10 games in and still playing shite that we start worrying.

Fulham coming straight after the international break was always going to be problematic. Bit strange playing Antman after the travel . German getting injured didn't help but ings is always training so why not start ? A draw was better than the drubbing. ⚒️

Not going to start panicking and going Loppy out but so far his starting lineups are very worrying. Would have expected by now that changes would have been made and he would have a better idea of his strongest team to set out from first whistle. We really need to start getting some wins and looking improved soon, otherwise if we are down there after 10 games questions need to be asked after this spending spree.

Let’s face it, only 9 months ago we lost this game 5-0 against a similar squad accustomed to the managers tactics. With a new manager and a lot of new players yet to fully gel, I think 1-1 is a vast improvement and nothing but a positive result.

His stamina is a bit low this season so far. Been getting leggy after 60 minutes. He covers a lot of ground and does a lot of work in that first 60, so makes sense, but we need to be getting more out of him. He seems poorer on the left.

And guess what results and performance's have been less than fantastic, wow what a shock!!! I don’t think Danny has earned the right to start. But I do think he has earned the right to leapfrog Antonio in the pecking order. To me Bowen should be the starter and until fit, Fullkrug should be second option and Danny should be third.

Hey Geo. I don't buy this Madri Moyes narrative. Can you get one of your tactics experts on a vid to assess any similarities or differences please? The narrative is getting thrown around but I see the makings of a different style (early days obviously) and the similarity is just some of the same players - and you have to try to play to their strengths until things develop further. Be interested to see the evidence analysed though.

Imo, Lopetegui knows what he actually wants but it is NOT working cause the 2 players he is forcing into this starting 11, are not good enough. Those 2 players take way to much footballing and creative part of our game. Lop was schooled.

At the risk of sounding delusional 😂, this is a great looking team on paper, however we have been lucky not to have shipped more goals than we have, we are not exactly frightening up front are we? This is just an opinion which may well change. To the people who say that we have only played four games, well lets hope it's not the same after 10 or 15 games, lets see😂😮. In 60 + years of supporting this team ( excellent on paper ) I have rarely seen such disjointed negative play, never have the majority of play , It can only get better I'm sure, if not there will always be plenty of excuses 😅😂COYI.

I’m not buying into the he made a mistake and recognized it and made the change at halftime narrative. He claims to have watched all our games last year. And he knows that you need a ball handler in midfield to move the ball forward to your attackers. And he knows what the three midfielders he started with together can’t do that. He got it very wrong, and it does worry me a bit. His job is to get the set up right for 90 minutes, not just for 45.
