yes indeed, especially during this carona virus we'e experiencing now not only in America but world wide! the whole world has practically shut down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
weeping as I listen to this. The Moody Choir just sang this song today , June 30th 2013 at the 4th of July concert. HOW APPROPRIATE. I fell to my knees and wept and prayed as it was sung... Lord have mercy on America. Thank you Moody choir... Moody is my online church at home....in Los Angeles.
This song always makes me feel like something is going to happen when you sing it. Last time the choir sang it as soon as it ended someone got a call that they're father passed only a minute earlier while it was being sung...
I have been loosely associated with a movement of God's people called Awakening America Alliance. as a believer in Christ, it is my prayer that all God's children will heed 2 Chron 7:14 and in so doing the universal Church will unite in prayer and fasting for revival of the Holy Spirit to work in our land. With our government pushing views contrary to the Word of God, we in the church need to repent and cry out to the Lord for His mercy, to help us as God's children, repent, seek His face and turn from our wicked idolatrous lives, and seek His mercy, perhaps then He may relent from His righteous judgement of our land. This song is my hearts cry for this land we live. Lord lift up your name through Your church, help us to glorify You. Please bring revival to our land.
Some churches and social justice "Christians", like John Piper, David Platt and Russell Moore, and their followers will have none of this, unfortunately. They are globalistic people. 😡 Yes, our land needs revival! 2 Chronicles 7:14 🇺🇸🙏 I love this powerful anthem too, which I can play on the piano.
I have loved this song since we sang it when I was a member of the Worship Choir at Southeast Christian in Louisville, KY. Thank you for sharing this video!
The writers of the song are: Nathan DiGesare & Dan Scott. Another guy that sings this song EXTREMELY well is Brad Preddy. Just search his name and the song will come up. It's definitely worth listening to!
“ Oh Lord forgive us. Break us til we fall at your feet. Give us your heart for this broken world. The lost, the damaged, the broken, the invisible, the forgotten, the voiceless, the powerless… all are precious to you… forgive us Lord for the hardness of our hearts… make us fallow ground, good soil for your seed to grow. “
In peace we come to pray and seek the Lord today For salvation from his hand for the healing our land Let us pray , let us pray Lord have mercy, Lord have mercy For we have placed all our hope in Thee for our sin we repent Oh Lord, we believe your Holy Word Have mercy Lord we pray Take all our sin away Kyrie Criste Repeat Chorus If you would mark iniquity Oh Lord who would stand But mercy like a fountain flows from Thy hand Correct Song
You're right. They do a beautiful job. I tried to find more songs from the soloist, Brett Ashton, but there is only one other one and it is beautiful. He has one of those voices that sounds like it's crying. Not many possess such a voice. I still think that the guy from First Baptist Church of Springdale, Arkansas does it better than anyone else. I once had it on video (VCR) but unfortunately lost it in a move. Wished someone would "youtube" it. It was amazing and brought me to tears.
First of all love, I'm not nitpicking. I am giving my opinion and since I know music quite well, I am able to "critique." If he knows his music so well, then have him look at the audience. It gives the audience a better understanding and sees more of the look on his face when singing. When looking down, one can't see the whole face. Wished there was a video of this guy singing it at First Baptist Church of Springdale, Arkansas. He would make this guy sound like a beginner.
No. You MAY know music, but you don't know the venue or the content of the song. First, the "audience" is pretty far from him and there is no camera he can see from his vantage point. Second, and more importantly he is NOT singing to the people, but to God. "Lord, have mercy". You clearly don't know a beginner from someone who actually knows what they are doing. All you are trying to do is build yourself up by trying to tear others down. Oh, and stop saying you know anything about music. Most churches like the one you mentioned know only two part choral arrangements with pre-recorded tracks with minimal players on stage (this is all live to two track). All you've done is give them, and yourself, a bad name.
Lord have Mercy by Lari Goss is the same arrangement but better recording and rendition in my opinion. This guy is being drowned out by the choir towards the end and although he gives it his all it's not working. don't know if its the recording or the conductors fault.
Type in "Charles Billingsley, First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Florida and have a listen. The guy has one of the most awesome voices out there and the recording is awesome. He has a voice that sounds like he's crying when he sings. Totally, totally awesome!
+Mi Picasso You're right, better done than this, but still my favorite is "Lord have mercy" by Lari Goss. With the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Choir and Orchestra, under the direction of Kevin Bogan, performing "Lord Have Mercy" composed by Larry Goss. Traditions service, 11/16/14. Photography better, less dramatics, better performance, better recording, etc. 14 yrs makes an improvement perhaps in presentation on youtube. This one is 5 yrs earlier also.
Why is it bad? This is part of a two hour concert and they are singing more than the usual two parts - which you probably sing. Do you sing two hours of different music every Sunday? Silly. You just gave your choir, and church, a bad name.
This was done by a combined "reunion choir" of former choir members that joined the current choir and the college choir. There was only one rehearsal that afternoon for the former members prior to the concert that evening and there were several other numbers as well.
Beautiful. People take the "Lord have mercy" phrase lightly sometimes. This song puts a significant depth to this prayer. They are actually powerful words that we should never take lightly!
We changed pastors, new one very young, we used to sing this hymn at the beginning & end of Mass on our knees all during Lent. Sacred sounding music no longer exists. Sacred Heart of Yesuhua, have pity.
Lyrics: In peace we have come to pray . And to seek the Lord today For salvation from His hand for the healing of our land Let us pray Let us pray . Lord, have mercy Lord, have mercy For we have placed all our hopes in Thee . Lord, have mercy Lord, have mercy For we have placed all our hopes in Thee . For our sin we repent, O Lord We believe Your Holy Word Have mercy Lord we pray And take all our sins away Kyrie Christe . Lord, have mercy Lord, have mercy For we have placed all our hopes in Thee . Lord, have mercy Lord, have mercy For we have placed all our hopes in Thee . If you would mark iniquity O Lord, who could stand; Thy mercy, like a fountain, flows from Thy Hand. . Lord, have mercy Lord, have mercy For we have placed all our hopes in Thee Lord, have ... . [Lord I'm so distressed and my soul drones within me Touch me Lord with Thy grace Set my spirit free.]
May God give you the gift of tears. Tears change the world. Break the alabaster jar 🏺… pour out His love in your heart. It’s there. I assure you… it’s there.
I remember this song from when I was a little girl. I've always kept it close to my heart. This is Heaven. A beautiful reminder as well of our humanity and Who God is to us. A God of mercy. This song reminds me that even on my BEST days, I need God's mercy and need to keep my hope in Him.
LORD, HAVE MERCY Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Kyrie eleison, Kyrie eleison. Christe eleison, Christe eleison. Kyrie eleison. Kyrie eleison.
"If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." - 2 Chronicles 7:14 Lord, we claim this verse today! 🙏🇺🇸
I played this with choir and orchestra on my flute. It’s really difficult to reflect on Christ’s mercy and play at the same time knowing that God’s mercy I never deserved, but still he gave it to me
This is soooooo needed, the authentic worship, and the bowing our hearts humbly before the Lord, praying for mercy for us, our families, our households, our neighborhoods, our communities, our cities and counties, our states, our countries, and for the world. May healing commence for our land, in Jesus' name, Amen.
It seems you have missed my point. I am suggesting that if we focus on our need for God's mercy our "ability to critique" will pale enough that we won't feel a need to state negatives on a public forum about a piece that God used so mightily that night and many times since. It might be better done privately. And since I am acquainted with Tim personally and know a little of his musical training, I confess I may be giving in to the temptation to defend him. To call him a beginner is low.
I only wish I could have been there in person not only to hear the choir and orchestra, but to feel the vibration when Paul Satre started the pipe organ at 4:50. This song is so powerful and heart clenching. If ever there was to be a cry unto God for our nation, this is it.
Believe me Tim knows the music well, that's why at 5:08 he turns the page with his eyes closed. And if you wish he was louder, perhaps you should blame the sound man rather than the soloist. I would far rather get lost focusing on the message of the song rather than nitpick. As I grow older and my awareness of my sinfulness grows the message of this song grows more powerful. It was difficult holding back tears when we sang it and it often still brings tears to my eyes now when I listen.
The soloist is only part of the choir and should not be way out front the whole time. Notice that he is held back during particular parts of the song, when the focus is on "us" and not "me". It was mixed as meant to be and not blindly focusing only on the single person on stage.
Awesome rendition! They did this song again this past week (9/18/11) with a couple of male opera singers leading; being there was a pretty special experience.

My church choir used to perform this song as well. It's the most sobering song I've ever heard. Every hair on my body stands on end, shivers shooting down every inch of my body... Lord we are not deserving of your Grace, LORD HAVE MERCY!!!
Chronicles 7:14 "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land." ... Lord, have mercy on this nation. Wake us up from our slumber. May our hearts long for righteousness and burn with zeal for you.
