In 2011 you were only 11 Respect those who have lived many years before you and know of life lessons. Called Respect. Raised to show respect to my Elders, always tried to learn a thing or two from them. Those that came before me and an interest in their longevity... Lessons lost on today's processed food youth. Not all their fault either, Some of us may even outlive them. Let us plan on it!
I don't know what the actual message of the song is, but this song makes me think about myself a couple years ago. Haunted by things of my past, full of trust issues, detaching myself from people I used to really love to hang out with, and just feeling so alone because of my fear. Eventually I met someone who took my hand and brought me back. Life has a weird way of having dramatic ups and downs.
Den Boe Thank you, isn't it interesting? I found it online, I'm not really sure if it's manipulated or not. I hope it isn't, that would make it so much cooler.
This songs quite literally put me on the track for what I want to study in school; I love this song and saw a comment that said it was reminiscent of "The Waste Land" poem by TS Eliot who in turn was inspired by the Shackleton expedition and now I'm studying nautical history to see if I can do archeological research searching for Shakletons ship the Endurance
I play this whenever I'm low on motivation to keep focused on my goals. I'm achieving them alot more than expected and now. It's just waves. So keep going and keep growing till the next wave approaches. Strange but helpful. Very
“Who is the third who walks always beside you? When I count, there are only you and I together But when I look ahead up the white road There is always another one walking beside you Gliding wrapt in a brown mantle, hooded I do not know whether a man or a woman -But who is that on the other side of you?” -The Wasteland by TS Eliot
See the Wikipedia article "Third Man factor" about "reported situations where an unseen presence such as a spirit provides comfort or support during traumatic experiences." T. S. Eliot refers to an example in Sir Ernest Shackleton's book _South_ (1919) about Shackleton's second expedition to Antarctica.
This is my first exposure to Lord Huron and I'm impressed. Do you mind telling me how and when you discovered them and your feelings about them? I hope you don't mind? Thanks.
@@willie_layer2828 hey Ik you didn’t ask me but I’d gladly answer, as corny as it sounds my first exposure to lord Huron was during the show 13 reasons why, ever since then I’ve been addicted!
I first stumbled upon this song 10 years ago when i was at the lowest point of my life so far. This song with it's slightly melancholical soundscape made keep pushing on, and here i am in 2023, still not afraid to die but i've got the motivation to keep going. Thank you for this gem of a song.
This song makes me feel like my life’s a movie and it’s the opening credit and I’m riding a bike in the country on a dirt road with nothing but grass on both sides
*It genuinely pleases me to see Lord Huron getting what they deserve. I told at least 20 people to check this band out, took 5 of my friends to see them live when they came to town in… 2013/14. They played to a crowd of a 200 max. Now I get on RU-vid and their videos have 230 MILLION VIEWS? God damn. Thats great. The exact same shit happen with Tame Impala. I was a super fan in 2010 when Innerspeaker came out, told a ton of people about them, took 9 people to their show, cut to a decade later and Tame Impala is fucking huge. I don’t like either of the bands newer releases, and prefer that first 2 album zone of pure bliss. But those 2 near perfect albums are more than enough to have my life long support.*
Oh and also, here are the lyrics: I can't trust anyone or anything these days If you are who you say you are then show your face Came out of the ocean like you came out of a dream Your voice it sounds familiar but you are not what you seem All words of comfort can not take away my doubt I've decided if it kills me I'll find out what you're about I can't trust anyone or anything these days But I know what you want and why Of all the strangers you're the strangest that I see I'm not afraid to die I can't trust anyone or anything these days You are not the one you say you are You are not the one you say you are I can't trust anyone or anything these days If you are who you say you are then show me your face Know enough to say you are not what you claim to be I've kept close watch upon you and I don't like what I see Can't escape the feeling that you'll get me in the night I'll sleep with one eye open, and I'm not afraid to fight I can't trust anyone or anything these days But I know what you want and why Of all the strangers you're the strangest that I see I'm not afraid to die I can't trust anyone or anything these days Know what you want and why Of all the strangers your the strangest that I see I'm not afraid to die I can't trust anyone no anything these days You are not the one you say you are You are not the one you say you are You are not the one you say you are You are not the one you say you are Now that I've seen your face I'm haunted by the letters of your name Now that I've seen your face I'm haunted by the letters of your name Now that I've seen your face I'm haunted by the letters of your name Now that I've seen your face I'm haunted by the letters of your name
fing exactly...I believe one of their tracks was used in the ben stiller movie, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty with whack job sean penn(love him as an actor) and Kristen Whig (got a crush on her) ...sorry i digress this band emotes so many images and feelings in me? Very unique ..love em'
Which is perfectly right if you compare the number of people who killed themselves and those who were murdered by others during the last century (exception made of wars ofc).
Is this where it was shot? where exactly? When I was 13 I remember visiting a shore of lake Michigan in full gale winds, with terrific waves, I was impressed.
The wind, the chill, the suspension in the moment during “now that I’ve seen your face”. 🖤 I get it, after months of mind-bending acts from someone deeply trusted. Always exceptional writing and music.
God this song is so fantastic. It brings me so much joy and peace listening to it. These guys so so innovative with their music style. I've never heard anything like this in rock/pop music before. I love the Asian influence.
I like the song, but in this video the cinematography is remarkable. Massive negative spaces, with the protagonists placed at the extreme vicinity to the frame edges moving in front of very static backgrounds and camera angles.. I have rarely seen someone doing video like this, but it‘s really well done here!
This will always be one of my favorite songs and favorite videos. And Favorite BAND! Their music will definitely be going with me to the deserted island!
I love Lord Hurons Music and Stories, gifts of nostalgia to my present.Never heard them till a year ago .I was caught up with Leonard Cohen ,his life, music poetry,Andrea Bocelli ,Tenor opera singer Italy,Caro Emerald singer from Denmark jazz singer.I’m 75 and enjoy watching many different artist.new one Stephen Sanchez ,take a listen, open your horizons to many, you might be missing more than you realize.Thank you for listening and playing Lord Huron.
this song reminds me of a time when only the people that are next to you mattered. Cherish those people the most because at the end of the day they are all that matter. Thank me someday
I just saw them in Philadelphia last week and the live version of this song is truly remarkable. This band continues to grow and never ceases to amaze me and make me feel jovial when I listen to them. Seriously, thank you Lord Huron.

Can't escape the feeling that you'll get me in the night I'll sleep with one eye open, and I'm not afraid to fight I can't trust anyone or anything these days But I know what you want and why Of all the strangers you're the strangest that I see I'm not afraid to die I can't trust anyone or anything these days Know what you want and why Of all the strangers your the strangest that I see I'm not afraid to die I can't trust anyone no anything these days You are not the one you say you are You are not the one you say you are You are not the one you say you are You are not the one you say you are Now that I've seen your face I'm haunted by the letters of your name Now that I've seen your face I'm haunted by the letters of your name Now that I've seen your face I'm haunted by the letters of your name Now that I've seen your face I'm haunted by the letters of your name
My Lark believed a dangerous lie That things could not hold together right And so he left me in the night And in the cold he lost his sight The blizzard came and made him feel That the warmth was true and real Despair became a blanket weight That seemed to him an gentle fate If only he had walked along He would have heard me sing our song But my Lark believed a dangerous lie Became a stranger set to die.
