This is like something you see on public access tv at 4 in the morning and the next day you aren't even sure if it was real or not, but now you have the song stuck in your head forever, with no way to listen to it again.
The same thing, BUT..."The night we met" was, is and will always be the first and the best track for me. And I have to admit that Lord Huron is the only band whose all the songs are equally amazing❤
I do not like the editing and camera work of this video! It is Seizure inducing and unoriginal. Like I get what they tried to do... they just cut it to fast and did not understand how post editing works. I love the song! I love the concept of the video. I hate the fake scrappy sratches on the "film". and bogus jump to new view B.S!
I was driving through a thunderstorm the other day- heaviest rain I’ve ever driven through. I had just found this song on Spotify and I just had it on repeat. It was just the perfect song for the moment.
I know you made the comment a year ago, but had to say me too, but its been about a year now. And there's this soul band from Australia too, the Teskey Brothers who've done me the same way. If u like soul, checkem out!
So my newborn daughter doesn’t want to go to sleep unless I play this song and sing along to her. I listened to Lord Huron a lot throughout my pregnancy, but I guess she really likes this song the most lol
I had my first in 1982. Only way to get him to sleep was Stevie Nicks Edge of Seventeen. I babysat when my kids were young. One baby had colic, poor guy. But once I turned on James Taylor, he would be quiet and calm down. Music is magical!
Well some folks say nobody makes great music anymore. I listen to "The Night We Met", "When the Night is Over" and I have to say, this is some of the finest music I have heard in a while. A mix of Roy Orbison, Chris Issak, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and the wonderful, late Hal Ketchum rolled into one fantastic and talented group of musicians. Keep up the fabulous work.... A 60+ year old Texas Fan.
I agree R. Vasquez ... listen to Not Dead Yet ... from another 60+ 😉 I think it’s the deep undertones from our era that are present in this band that calls to the soul
@@kimberlychang3985 I heard and like the live version from "Live From Here" a little more. Its a bit more soulful and less production sounding. Here it is : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i2zzT0yb8io.html
My one and only love I've been lonely long enough Will I find you when the night is over? Tell me where did you go? I've been searching high and low I have only 'til the night is over In every window, I pass Your reflection in the glass Makes me wonder if my mind is going Shadows shifting in the rain Slowly driving me insane By the stars above, I know we were in love I have only ’til the night is over I feel the weather change I hear the river say your name I watch the birds fly by I see an emerald in the sky Now how the trail has gone cold I don’t know where else to go And my time, I fear, is nearly over When the ocean drinks the sky And the city winks its eye When the night is done, you’ll vanish in the sun Will I hold you when the night is over? Am I lost inside my mind? There’s an emerald in the sky I hear the river say your name By the stars above, I know we were in love I hear the river say your name I have only ’til the night is over
yeah I streamed 5,678 in 2018 of this song I was in a dark spot at that time and I listened to it all the time and fell asleep to it . Listen to say out there and yawning grave
What I really enjoy about this band, is that the music tells a story of its own, along with the lyrics that accompany it. The connection between the two is a feeling that's genuine; one of a kind. Like all great things should be.
All great music by some of the best in the industry in my era of 70’s ...like this band it’s all about the emotion. This band has it consistently with every song.
Strange Trails literally reads like Odin fan fiction (that's not a criticism, I fucking love it). Like, whoever wrote the songs tripped balls in the woods of California and met Odin the Alfather. Why was Odin, a Nordic god, in the California woods? Who knows, he wanders. But anyway, someone had an encounter with him and they've been writing about it ever since. It's fantastic.
Bass is always so overlooked in songs. A good bassline can make or break a song. Most of the time you never really notice it when they're great, but you do notice how great the song is.
Listening to this song (and the whole vide noir album) while working alone in a warehouse on night shifts. It makes me feel less lonely despite it being a very lonely song
I sometimes have dreams where I meet someone who I feel immensely close to. Someone I've known forever. But when I wake up, I can't think of when I actually met that person. This song feels kind of like that. Like wandering through a dream looking for that person, but knowing they'll vanish as soon as I wake up, so I have only until the night is over to find them.
I love it too! Hey if you like Lord Huron, maybe you’d also enjoy my brand new single over on my page! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lZdvOeYXvQU.html

You know that feeling when you look up to the night sky on a cold winter night and you see the clear stars and moon just shining so bright back down on cold ground making it oddly light out but still dark
Saw them last night in Seattle and I have to say these guys are incredible live! Such a visually stunning show and the feeling of being surrounded by these sounds is something everyone should experience.
I live in Jamaica and tbh I play this song every day and when I say every day I mean every 15 times a day I love this song much only if yall knw the feeling I get from listing to this song
I love this song so much, it feels like watching two suns set at the same time. I hope he finds whatever he's looking for, it's the best feeling in the world when you do.
I just discovered this band and now I’m dying to see them in concert. There’s just nothing like this around these days, they’re so innovative, especially compared to most alternative artists these days. I’m already a fan!
I live in Colombia and songs in English are rarely heard, but I heard this work of art and I became a fan of Lord Huron, I am a soldier and when I leave the battalion home I listen to this song at full volume the whole way, they seem to last forever, It is magical, it is calm, it is epic and it is inner peace.
This is my absolute favorite song. I discovered it 2 1/2 years ago when I met the loml. We were long distance and would travel 2 hours back and forth before we moved in together in January 2021. I listened to this song the whole way driving home after the first night we stayed together and made it official and sobbed because I had never fell in love with anyone before and it felt like torture driving home. I’ve never loved anyone more and now we have been together 2 1/2 years, happily, and just bought our first home together. I want this played at our wedding someday. It’s the most gorgeous song to me.🥺❤️
Awesome! And well said. Thanks for sharing such an endearing snippett of your life with complete strangers. I couldn't be more envious and ecstatically happy for you at the same time. God bless you and your true love forever.
This will become a lullaby I sing to my children one day. The melody is sweet and beautiful with a light haunting lyrical message. It's a song I will carry with me for a long long time and hold dear to my heart. Thank you, Love ya Huron ❤
The sound editing on this masterpiece is amazing, I'm always shocked by how every part intertwines with one another and how every note is exactly where you'd expect it to be, and yet it takes you by surprise. Absolutely love this song
AMC used this song to remember those that had left us in 2022 and I loved it so much. Today I heard this on my play list and I started crying at the first note. I love the melancholy of the love past and lost.
One of my best friends passed away six days ago. The music from this band has gotten me through fits of crying, moments of sorrow, and the fear of my inevitable reunion I will have with the black void.
I was browsing a bookstore when this song came on...it immediately took hold of me and I couldn't get out out of my mind. I walked through the store longer than planned, just to listen to the whole song. I only knew of one other song of yours, so I didn't recognize this one as a Lord Huron song. Left the store and immediately Google searched for it... only to find it was Lord Huron. Of course! The 2nd song I've heard and now I'm officially a fan. Going through all your songs now. Amazing talent. Your music speaks to my soul.
You had me at bookstore! I don't one what you've listened to already, but some personal faves are yawning grave, night we met, love like ghosts, meet me in the woods, way out there, and until the night is over. 😊
“My one and only love, I’ve been lonely long enough…will I find you when the night is over?..tell me, where did you go”? Jesus…never related to something more
Driving to Michigan from KY during Covid lockdown because my mother / my best friend had to have emergency surgery that I wasn't sure she'd survive and my Amazon Tool/A Perfect Circle/Puscifer playlist played this! I've been playing Lord Huron during the drive BACK to Kentucky for MY post-op appointment and back to Michigan to help my mom when she gets out of the hospital! She's doing great! THIS music got me out of my head and away from the monkey mind and into my heart! SO healing and incredibly gorgeous! Thanks Uni-verse!
I have been listening to this for 2 weeks straight in the car. I can feel the high hat cymbal and guitar tremolo effect. The words are so pretty and I love the drums/bass and voices together. It is all true magic. A wonderful sensory and emotional experience over and over.
Album, EP or single: Vide noir Lyrics: My one and only love I've been lonely long enough Will i find you when the night is over? Tell me where did you go? My ex from my entire 20s just sent this to me. I am/we are NOW 53. I always wonder if songs like these are the way he feels about someone else or me. Thanks for posting lyrics. Easier to understand as I listen!🙌 And I tend to think he's really thinking about someone else. Maybe nobody. But definitely NOT me!!😂
This song is reminiscent of my first acid trip when I was walking down the street and saw a green light change to red with no cars there. Teared up a little bit, made me think long and hard about life
this song deserves a lyric comment My one and only love I've been lonely long enough Will I find you when the night is over? Tell me where did you go? I've been searching high and low I have only 'til the night is over In every window, I pass Your reflection in the glass Makes me wonder if my mind is going Shadows shifting in the rain Slowly driving me insane By the stars above, I know we were in love I have only 'til the night is over I feel the weather change I hear the river say your name I watch the birds fly by I see an emerald in the sky Now how the trail has gone cold I don't know where else to go And my time, I fear, is nearly over When the ocean drinks the sky And the city winks its eye When the night is done, you'll vanish in the sun Will I hold you when the night is over? For the past two years, when I've been driving back from Mardi Gras and hit Horse Cave, KY this song had come on my playlist totally random. Is about 5 miles from where my first love lives. Weird, mystical, beautiful.
This song sounds like somebody who was killed in the woods at night and brought back to life by some sort of eldritch entity. He wonders from the forest, into the city he once called home, and thinks of his wife. As he walks through the empty city in the early morning hours, he begins to see a new plane of existence that was always there, but he never saw before, hence the emerald in the sky. It's the beginning of some sort of apocalyptic event, brought on by the entity. At 4:20, he stands on a cliff side overlooking his city, wind whipping through his wet, undead hair, with a solemn, peaceful expression, as a green sunrise comes over the horizon in front of him, over the city. The green sunlight is on his face. His eyes are glowing green.
Are you a writer, man? Because the scene you set in just a few sentences was vibrant and alive in my mind. You really ought to do something with that vision. Cheers!
