I am glad he stopped... what ppl don't realize is by this time when he would get off the stage he would collapse in total pain. Their would be his private doctor there with shots of pain meds and cortisone for just about every major joint in his lower body. He literally once said if he had a son who wanted to go into dancing like he did he would NOT let him because of how much damage he did to his body. I LOVE his dance, work, can't wait to see his movie, and wish him nothing but happiness and peace but I do thank god he stopped. No one should be in that kind of pain for the pleasure and happiness of others.
I drove from norway to Denmark to see this show.. it was Amazing but I stilk feel sad that Michael was sick that day. I have been the biggest fan for years and so bummed espacially when seeing this again. The show was great overall but if Michael could be there it would be like the iiicing on the cake..
The epitome of grace is knowing when to quit. I'm not saying Flatley is not an impressive creature, but his ego is repulsive. And when most of your performance consists of punching the air and almost no footwork, it's time to hang up the dancing shoes and just teach. It happens to the best of us. That being said, no one, and I do mean NO ONE has brought the level of performance and fire to Riverdance since he left so many years ago, and if it weren't for that outsized ego, there never would have even been a Riverdance, and he would not have had the stones to cut loose from it when it needed to be done. So I repeat, he is a most impressive creature.
Ok hear me out. I adore Michael Flatley, I mean, that guy is genius and talent and there is no denying it. BUT HIS EGO IS SO FUCKING BIG THAT HE STANDS IN FRONT OF THE DUDE (dunno his name) WHO'S CARRIED THE ENTIRE SHOW! LIKE, THE FINALE AND YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE THE GUY WHO'S WORKED HIS ARSE OFF, FILLING THE BIGGEST SHOES IN THE DANCE WORLD! sorry, it just bugs me
