Lord of the Rings (all 3) are up there with Gone With The Wind, Ben Hur, Les Miserables, and Romeo and Juliet and "The Return of the King" surpassed all of them. To me Return of the King is the best film of all time. Story, adventure, battles, romance, good vs evil, cinematography, theme songs. For this I put JRR Tolkien above Victor Hugo and Shakespeare.

the genre is called Power Metal my friend, a subgenre of heavy metal music that incorporates insane melodies and lyrics about knights, dragons, warriors, gods etc.

No, actually from the book and kinda from the movie Gollum is the hero, Frodo turning corrupt in the end and Sam being powerless at that moment.Gollum actually jumps in and saves the day. Tolkien wrote LOTR in inspiration of Norse mythology and from The Bible trying to create a mythos for western-europe, but what makes it special is that not the hero(frodo) saves the day but something more evil(Gollum) this actually never happend in any myth or story making LOTR one of the best stories ever.
