i know this is nine years old but damn i would love for you to break this down as a lesson from beginning to end some time, this is one of my fav sabbath songs
Awesome video. One of my favorite Sabbath tracks and you covered it well. I have the same amp and am thinking about getting the Catalinbread Sabra Cadabra pedal. Would you recommend it for Sabbath and doom metal music?
Thanks Joe. The Sabbra Cadabra is good at nailing some specific Sabbath tones. In my experience it can also be used as a general fuzz/overdrive for doom metal but I tend to prefer using other fuzz pedals for that.
That was spot on Bro. What tuning are you using? Are you a step and a half down tuned? I am a new player going on three years at age 56, and heavy blues like Sabbath is my goal, but I am not used to using alternative tuning's so far so they give me a bit of a problem when I am so used to standard tuning. I am going to drop tune my guitar to sound like yours did. I have a Marshall DSL40C and a new 2017 Gibson SG LE standard ( Pelham blue)and I wonder what settings you are using on your amp and what sort of peddles you are using. I have a Digitech RP360XP and could use some advice on how to set the patch to sound like you. Now you got me going with the Sabbath stuff I can't wait to learn this tune being one of my all time favorites. I can nail a lot of the old Cream stuff, but black Sabbath with the tone they use I am finding it hard to get the correct sound. I don't have a Sabbra Cadabra peddle, but I do have about 10 distortion peddles in the processor if any of them will emulate the tone you are getting I would appreciate a tip on which one to use. I'm new and I bought a Roland GR55 thinking it would help me get a really great tone for metal but the damn thing almost requires me to take a class on how to operate it, it was Far too much over my ability at this point to even use. I took the GR pickup off of my PRS custom 24 until I am more advanced with my playing to even justify using it for anything other than a regular processor. Sorry for the long post, I get all geeked about guitar's and I am in love with the instrument.
This is a great cover played very well, but that tone is suuuuuper off. It would sound more at home in a Black Metal band, too much gain and buzz. Just my opinion though, great job!
