Everyone here claiming BJP did so much development work. That is true. But did it bring any tangible benefits to the people? This is the real question. India has been experiencing jobless growth for many years now, and most economists have been pointing towards it. Our GDP numbers are rising but jobs are not growing because Government is focusing only on hi-tech sector where manufacturing is primarily automated. BJP was shifting towards left, with this result, it'll shift more leftwards. That is no Hindu-Hindi, and more caste peddling. I won't be surprised if BJP drops "Jai Shree Ram" for "Vande Mataram". But this moderation will come with costs, this ideological shift will alter the uniqueness of BJP. I have a hunch, that BJP is BSP in the making. I think rural voters were frustrated. Ram Mandir, third largest economy, religion-divide didn't matter to them. Unemployment and poverty were their issues for which there was no mention anywhere. I watched some episodes of Lallantop Chunavi Yatra. In almost all, rural voters stated, pain written on their face, that they had gas cylinder (Ujjwala) but no money for refill and that they cook on firewood.

BJP is focused on Macro level especially finance ministry.But opposition focused on Micro level like attractive promises directly affecting ordinary voters who are huge numbers compared to elite group.Funny thing that elite group concerned for money making not bothered to cast vote especially in hot climate.

Wrong analysis on phase wise strike rate. It depends on states in each phase. Tamil Nadu was in phase 1 and hence the lower strike rate.

Well, First off, The Inauguration of Ram Mandir in such a grand fashion meant that mission accomplished and Hindutva cooled down and took a back seat, this happened in Jan, and in time other local issues became important, but BJP thought that the Euphoria was still there after 4-5 months, that Infrastructure development and Welfare would make them cruise, but people wanted something more than 5kg rice or basic facilities, I guess it's progress when tehy think like that. Also 400 Par was an fail, basically declaring victory months before the election, workers became complacent, voters did not bother to vote and of course unknown local leaders who cannot get 10 votes on their own rode on Modi's coattail, haven't BJP learned anything from 2004? it was almost a repeat of it. Also I think BJP should've directly addressed things like Unemployment and Inflation, and what steps they are implementing to combat this, it's not as if the congress had a solution for this, they just pointed out the issues which was enough for the people, BJP has been poor in messaging, they pushed bills like Farm laws and Agniveer but their messaging gas to why it was important was not delivered to the people.
