I loved how angry and deep the commentary was in his moment shaking his western-commercial-symbol mane. I really don't get how anyone can find comedy in this piece of very class-struggle-centric art unless they're missing a lot of the message of the song and what he did with it :/

I like the fact he speaks English and sings with his natural African accent cus I live in the USA and I try not speak with my African accent but it comes out anyway and people tell me they love my accent and it cool I don't try to sound western anymore and it makes my friends laugh ;) so I love it even more most African artist don't even sing with the accent anymore they sound so western now especially the females ....I love the fact that he makes it so obvious he is African great work! So much talent

I end up commenting a little more every time I come back to this video because I'm just so frustrated that so many people don't see the huge amount of social commentary and symbolism going on here and how ANGRY and beautifully confrontational the use of the Christmas wreath mane is. Like this is clearly a resentful song about class oppression to begin with and he just added to that with this cover and how are people missing the point this broadly lol

My dad, Eric jones, met Alex in st. George. My dad didn't know Alex and didn't know the piano guys. All the sudden a piano is being carried by a helicopter and they were so confused, my brothers and dad, long story short my dad met the piano guys and Alex. He helped them carry their stuff up to the spot where they shot the video. Alex was talking to him and then put an African headdress on my dad and said he was a " his white chieftain of the desert." I almost got to meet Alex and wish I could. Anyways, Alex if ur reading this I hope u remember that! 😀

Why are people so negative about others. Does it really matter where someone was or was not born, or how they talk. The song is great, both by Lorde, but a little bit better by Alex Boye'. I about died when I saw you in the wreath! When I was a child we used to have a tree, that had eyes and a mouth, that would sing and dance to christmas songs. I used to make it play and play until the batteries died or my grandfather would remove them!! Thanks for reminding me of that happy memory!
