i think thats because of the snitching rule, i believe it also applies to content surrounding the game as well so thats probably why there hasn't been much content covering lore games lore
thor to explain a bit, surface dwellers are (ofc) humans that once used to life in the surface,as the war era was around that and for now, nobody know their actual identity also another theory is that surface dweller doesnt have deep energy when they are born like cave dwellers or ancients,but they obtain some from staying in the deep for longer (kind off cursed energy from lobotomy kaisen) also new theory is that kuro mostly inspired the anime "made in abyss" for some stuff like lightkeepers being sort of delvers or the layer system and mostly surface dwellers : humans in mia are considered as people who seek bunch of valuable shit from the depth, isnt that something that knocks you? thinkerers mission's is to get enough treasury being essian arm as they are very valuable
in my opinion i prefer the lore to be much harder to find out like maybe the blind chasm is secret and just a myth or not many people really know about the layers from the time they spent down there. thats just my opinion but any lore or theory is still cool
theory: The sun outpost thing can be a surface dwellers base, it's the way they get the energy. Have u guys seen...it' 'the shiniest place of the entire map...it can maybe have a way to the surface by there, but only they can go by.
i personaly think that the ancients made the door guardian to protect the cave dwellers from the harsh reality that is layer 5 since we see that he has clay around the parts of his body who reveal when removed the deep energy that is unable to escape it unless it is broken which we see him do in the boss fight and knowing that scholars are the guys with the cool black robes, most notably snuld. and that they try to replicate the power of the ancients, and can make runes isnt it believable that we players who are able to use the runes that the ancients left behind make us as powerful as some scholars well obviously none of the scholars we know of use fighting runes maybe cuz they cant or dont want to and since we know pots are peaple who used too much runes and that are basicly mechs for the runes when they take over wouldnt that make kalenci one of the stronger and most advanced scholars
my theory : yk the guy in the filter kaceli or kaleci i forgot i think he is the keeper of layer 3/the sunless ocean. So yk how the water pot are made out of clay,So my theory is that water has some depths energy in it.I assume that bc when we go in the water we die out of nowhere,presumably from depths energy overflowing in out bodies.Kaceli/Kaleci made the water bc ppl were dying of thirst ( idk if that is true but i just assume they died bc of that. The filter : the filter is presumably where Keceli/Keleci went into hiding in the ancient times,when the war ended he made the lagoon so ppl could come and fight for his pleasure.Since he can reward u with runes and wears a pot on his head he may be the biggest source of depths energy in the deep. my personal theory: The surface dwellers aren't the ones who created the Essians. My guess is that the Ancients did long ago and the surface dwellers figured out how to control them themselves This also leaves a lot of questions left unanswered though, like how do essians function on the surface with no deep energy there? Currently my best guess regarding that is that the surface dwellers have a base of sorts in layer 1 which was made after the essians took it over, allowing the essians to remain functional and travel down to the lower layers If we assume the War Era's war is actually being fought between the Surface Dwellers Vs Deep Dwellers (aka theres no missing lore or misunderstandings of ours), then with the most likely large prevalence of cave sickness and people overall lacking knowledge about the world, then its likely that most Deep Dwellers dont even know that there's a war going on. They would just think of essians as a major inconvenience. The war being common knowledge is likely limited to the upper layers where cave sickness is far less of an issue Then again we don't know even really know how cave sickness works and how people get it just yet maybe im theorying too much
